The article says Celine looks “breath-taking”. I think she looks positively Anorexic. What do you think? Scroll to see all the outfits...skeletal.

I think she looks unhealthy. If she falls she'll probably break every bone in her body.

Please don't criticize women's bodies.

I love Caitlin Moran's take on the pressure on women to stay young and look perfect. In her hilarious book, "How To Be A Woman," Caitlin Moran wrote:

"So. Yes. We're all dying. We're all crumbling into the void, one cell at a time. We are disintegrating like sugar cubes in champagne. But only women have to pretend it isn't happening.

"Fifty-something men wander around with their guts flopped over their waistbands and their faces looking like a busted tramp's mattress in an underpass. They sprout nasal hair and chasm-like wrinkles, and go 'Ooof!' whenever they stand up or sit down.

"Men visibly age, every day -- but women are supposed to stop the decline at around 37, 38, and live out the next 30 or 40 years in some magical bubble where their hair is still shiny and chestnut, their face unlined, their lips puffy, and their tits up on the top third of the ribcage."

Anorexia is survivable so long as you don't get the flu.

Took out Karen Carpeter at 23. Celine has 50 year old lungs.

I agree...a little too skinny...

The bone show look doesn't do anything for me, but then neither does the ripped look. But hey, whatever floats your boat! I don't expect to get an invitation to date her anyway LOL. I know my dad went from 300 lbs to around 120 when he was sick. There was a brief time in the transition when he looked healthy. When you can count every bone in your body seems kind of extreme to me.

Aside from the ridiculous padded shoulders she looks ok to me. My daughter is 5'6" taller than me and looks like a scarecrow compared to Celine.

A related link, about her weight. [news.yahoo.com]

She's FIFTY??? ? ? ? [s.yimg.com]

@Qualia Yeah. She looks frail and extremely old, right?

@bingst Yes omg

Looks like a holocaust photo doctored by a fashion magazine.

I think she's a highly talented person - that I've always admired, who has had her share of grief, and now is beginning to enjoy life again. How she does that doesn't effect us in any way, and is none of our business.

@OwlInASack The idea is to teach your kids to accept, and love their bodies, regardless of their size or shape. There will always be a large range of different bodies in the world - some healthy - some not. Some very large - others very small, or thin. Some famous and out there on magazine covers - some not. A strong self image is everything.

Breath-taking wasn't the thought that entered my mind when I looked at the pic's. More like, 'she could use a good meal every now and then'.

She looks too thin but she has muscle tone (legs) - making me think extreme diet and exercise - but not anorexic.
However if she dies of heart failure in the coming year? Then I'll believe they're using spray tan and make-up to compensate.

For some reason I've never thought she had a happy life? So driven by success and in the public eye.
Maybe I am wrong and she loves it?

I noticed the muscle tone in her legs as well. She still looks underweight to me.

@bingst Yup. The chest bones worry me but she's older too.

If she gets pneumonia she won't have any fat reserves. That's always made me nervous.

It reminds me of a client we had? Everyone kept telling her how well she was doing? But I've always assessed far more than overall weight when looking at appearance.
It turned out she was double layering her jeans and tops.

She was in the worst shape we'd ever seen and counselors were encouraging her.
She had to be hospitalized for her heart.

@RavenCT I know something is wrong when I see someone who reminds me of the films I've seen of the liberation of Nazi concentration camps. It makes me wonder if Celine or Cillista Flockhart have seen any of those.

@bingst When I want to feed them? I know they're in trouble! "Mom instincts!" . ?

@RavenCT

It's all fun and games thinking one is immortal & can starve until it does irreversible damage to the heart. THEN when older you can't do the level of exertion in order to maintain yourself.
Unless you're cast iron and just very very lucky I suppose.

But yeah she looks ill everywhere else. But hey, her body. Just wish the press wouldn't glorify it.

@Qualia Yes that part makes me worry about the Women's movement. The Press still seems to glorify this kind of behavior even when they know it's harmful.

Makes me wonder how much those images were photoshopped as well. And in which direction.

I've seen women talk about that - how a magazine shaved some off their thighs or waist etc.. I wish they'd stop doing that. It raises some pretty insecure young women with all kinds of body issues. (Men too).

And what we see in TV and the movies is not what reality is. Even the fittest bodies vary in shape and size and are never perfection. And we should be far happier about that.

It's taken me to my 50s to realize maybe being a bit round is okay. Yes I want to be healthier and I work towards that - however punishing ourselves for where we are at? That behavior has got to stop.

Whether perfect weight - or thin or overweight - we are where we are.
The body dysmorphia? That we could do without.

"Breath-taking"? I am surprised she is taking a breath. Is there a doctor in the house?

She’s always been very thin and keeps a rigorous schedule. If it becomes an issue I hope she has people around her that will be strong enough to speak up.

@MissKathleen I’ve been called anorexic a million times. It’s not anyone’s business but mine how thin and healthy I choose to be.

@MissKathleen Naturally, and I didn’t say otherwise. But just because someone is thin we shouldn’t assume they are. If she was obese and you pointed her out for being obese, everyone would be on your butt. It’s a double standard.

2

Celine got her troubles, I got mine.

Yup, agree. Way too thin, no body reserves.

2

Gah!! I'm sorry I looked!
