This happened at the private "Christian" school where Mike Pence's wife teaches.

Such good little christian boys....little fucks need their asses kicked!

@Fred_Snerd as the maxim has it "easier to pray for forgiveness after stealing a bike, than praying for a new bike and risking god saying no."

I saw that... I hope she sue's the school and them for a ton of money and gets those punks arrested for assaulting her.

Ah, Christian love. So this is what happens when you keep Jesus in the school, huh?

The reaction from the girl in the aftermath, as published in the Washington Post:
“I felt hurt and angry, but I also felt compassion for them because something must have happened to them and that’s why they bully,” the girl said.

What an amazing young lady!

I am glad this is being taken seriously and as an assault.
When my own incident (related above) was brought to the school authorities my father took me to see the head teacher , who basically said bullying was part of school life, I needed to toughen up and fight back and that my father risked raising a milksop if I went running to the authorities every time something trivial happened.
Nothing ever came of it after that other than my Mother telling me I had embarrassed them and that if next time I did not fight back she would beat me.

Things have changed for the better, but I would have found it difficult have been so forgiving as this fine young lady.

What's even more telling is that they apparently believe their opinion about her hair is justification for assault. Who taught them that it was their right to not only voice their ignorant negative opinion, but to attack her because she doesn't fit what they think she should be? These kids weren't born thinking negative things about black people and how black people should behave and look like. They got it from people they trust and respect to give them a viable perspective of the world, their family and friends.

All of the boys should be expelled.

And NOT just expelled but PUBLICLY Named and Shamed as well.

7

I believe this could happen at any school ....being a Private Christian one is not really the reason it happened, however it did happen despite being a Christian one. They usually take a morally superior attitude, so it just proves that racism and ignorance abounds everywhere, despite their belief that they are better.

Exactly... 👍

Religion poisons everything.

Christian benevolence.

I was just listening to an interview with Frank Schaeffer, son of Francis Schaeffer, one of the creators of the Evangelical movement, and he said that "Christian schools" were created as a result of integration. They were created because they didn't want to integrate. So what we're seeing now is that playing out. White Supremacists are doing everything in their power to hurt black and brown people, and they're doing it in the name of God.

So still this "God made man in his own image" nonsense being interpreted as God a redneck caucasian man who likes dressing up in white bed sheets of a weekend, by redneck caucasian men who like dressing up in white bed sheets of a weekend.

Either them or their parents should be held responsible for a hate crime. Those boys need to spend some time in youth jail for assault and learn the actions have consequences.

5

ughhh so because they didn't like how she looked... they thought it was acceptable to assault her?! who taught them that kind of shit was okay or acceptable?? Oh yea, probably their christian racist daddies... fckers ... this is racialized violence imo cuz I bet they wouldn't cut the hair of a little white girl

Quite possibly or even probably, but it is my experience that school children with a predisposition for bullying don't need to be encouraged to hate, they will bully anyone they see as weak, inferior, different or lesser and find it hilarious.
The fat kid, the ginger, the short kid, the foreign kid, the one with natural curly hair, the one with glasses or a big nose, or sticky out ears etc etc

5

I heard about that, but not the Pence connection!

I had a similar experience as a child.
My hair has always been very curly and up until the age of 12 my parents and grandparents would not allow my "Locks" to be cut (no doubt something to do with my Jewish heritage).
A consequence of this was I had a huge Afro which was the subject of mockery and abuse by school mates for years who referred to me as "White Golly Wog" "Bleached N word" and other charming epithets.
I final got my hair cut after being held down and hacked at in a very similar fashion to this unfortunate young woman and an attempt by one school mate to set it alight.
Children are horrible and always abuse that which is perceived to be different, or does not conform to their definition of "normal".
The mounting tension should have been spotted and dealt with much sooner in the build up to this attack by the teachers, however it is likely they too thought it was "funny" and turned a blind eye.

Kids bully other kid. This is news now?

Thank you...

But then Karen Pence also [huffpost.com]

Pence is a horrible man, who sees his own faults as moral virtues.
One almost expects to see him dressed thus :

Black people who practice Christianity make no sense to me.

They made them believe they came from savages.

...and pretend that Nefertiti was as white as Elizabeth Taylor.

Oh but whites do?

@GipsyOfNewSpain well western white people weren't like ... enslaved and told "jesus and billbob here are your new masters" so it's a liiiiiiiitle different.

@BufftonBeotch Liz Taylor never played Nefertiti on Film... she played Cleopatra... Cleopatra was less African than I am African... Cleopatra was from the Ptolomeo Family... in other words from the same tribe of Greeks as Alexander the Great. Liz Taylor was not even the first choice and she was a substitution after Production started.... who was the first choice? Joan Collins and after filming started was substituted for a Bigger Star. And I know Joan Collins was not African looking either.

It really was the last bit of cruelty to enslave a person's soul as surely as their bodes.

"You think it's hot in that GA cotton field. Wait 'til I tell you 'bout Hell. That's where slaves that disobey der Massa go.

2

Christianity has done everything thing it can possibly do to force itself on children. Their god is not love, it is conflict and it makes war wherever it goes. Christianity is a rapist organization that doesn't take "NO" for an answer especially when it comes to children. It has forced it way into every nook and cranny in our government and society and installed a monster in the whitehouse.

Read earlier this morning the boys were away from school, whatever that means. IMHO the assault should have severe consequences. Hopefully the boys and their families realize just because you’re a xtian does not mean you can do whatever you want.

2

Were the boys expelled from school? They should have been and the parents should have been told exactly why by the school administration.

The boys said her hair was "nappy" and ugly. White people know very little about "nappy" hair or what it means. They are racist. Try the Urban Dictionary.

I believe the school’s response was for everyone to pray about it.
There were no consequences for the boys, as far as I’ve seen.

A news story yesterday stated that she admitted to making this up. [google.com]
People like that really piss me off.

1

I guess the poor kid, coming into her teen years, wanted to own her head of hair and had no real way of voicing this to her parents.

If she had said "girls in her class" I might have believed her.

This has just been reported ad a hoax.

In this case. But similar and worse things happen very often.
