This is an important anniversary for me. Seven years ago today I had a stroke. It set off a world of changes for me. I had to pursue disability retirement, my marriage fell apart. It’s been a crazy road, but here I am back in the game, continually recovering, grateful, growing, fully functioning, trying my best to live a happy life, a survivor.

It's amazing how resilient we are. I can't believe I'm still standing, breathing, sometimes enjoying life. We are incredible, all people who overcome overwhelming hardships.

Funnily enough (so to speak ) , exactly the same for me but on the 14 th March . I suppose you could say I beat you by nearly a month .... Whoopee!
Bit depressing at first ain't it ? I , m left with a weak left hand and leg , skiing days are over but eventually you do realise the luck you had and concentrate a bit more on enjoying life I think .

You had a carotid type, I had a vertebular. I lost the left half of my cerebellum. The effects have been crazy. For me it has been balance and filtering, and a lot of muscle memory things I’ve had to relearn. Congratulations to you on your survival and recovery.

I'm just glad to hear you're doing better after going through such an ordeal.

Thanks. It’s a work in process.

Best of luck with your recovery.

Thanks, life's good.

I'm proud of You! You're a real inspiration to us. I wish you the best in the future .

Thank you! I’m seeing from people who have commented that there are some other real survivors on here that have come through amazing obstacles. I guess for all of us if we are still in the game we are all survivors.

Good for you! That takes will power, courage, belief in yourself, and persistence!!

Congratulations on your comeback, I know firsthand how long and hard the road back can be. I had a stroke when I was 28 years old, I forgot almost everything, names, faces, places etc.

Wow. That sound like you had a real tough go of it. It seem like you done a hell of a job in your comeback. Thanks, and congratulations to you too.

@Tony80223, Thank you, I really appreciate it. I don't know how it was for you, but for me, I had to rediscover 95% of everything. I have to tell you, from 28-30 y.o. I was a very curious 7 y.o. in a 28 y.o. body

@Akfishlady, It was very discouraging, at the same time I was seeing everything for the first time, which was a really exciting time in my life.

Congrats!!! I got hip surgery coming up - hope I don't get to whiny and get back walkin' and doin'.

Best wishes for your upcoming surgery. The strides they have been making has people up in no time and back to the doin'.

It is good to hear that you are once again "fully functional". Continue on with living as it makes you happy in a fullfilling life.

Thanks, I like to say fully functional, but I don’t know if I ever really was.?. It’s just that a lot of the times people can think that you are going to be hobbling around or drooling on yourself..... I try not to do those things.

I applaud you...'let the dead bury the dead,' the living should keep making a life...until the end comes!

Hang in there and live every day like it is your Last.

Also live every day like it is your first.

Congrats join the club. After battling leukemia 6 years ago I had a blood clot in my lungs and had heart failure putting me in a nursing home 3.5 years ago. Know where you are coming from. We are survivors.

Indeed you are and continue to be so.

Thank you, and what an amazing survivor you are. Wow it sounds like in the same time frame I was struggling, you were struggling so much more and overcame so much more. You are a strong incredible lady.

Thank you kind sir.
