ArdentAtheist comments on Apr 16, 2018:
That’s a really cool old parlor guitar, definitely solid wood and a spruce top, I so what someone to give one of those.. From the bridge you can tell it’s meant for steel strings, probably made somewhere between the mid 60s and early 70s... I have a 1903 Gibson L1 in the same parlour size but with an arched top, love them.

ArdentAtheist comments on Apr 16, 2018:
Keep it ethnic, if you go for any sort of Asian cuisine they can generally substitute tofu for any meat in any dish, at the very least you can get a Buddhas delight. Also I never have trouble in an Indian restaurant, like Sweet potato curry, Yum. We have a vegan bestro here called Darbsters that is amazing but pricy so that’s for a second date, lol ... avoid American diners and burger joints as the vegan options are rarely any good... Where I have a problem is when I’ve chosen a place because of the music and I have to deal with a less than stellar underwhelming vegan sad sad choice:(
I've screwed up again.
ArdentAtheist comments on Apr 16, 2018:
Your not wrong, I found it no different from the male perspective... either they want to get Uber serious out of the gate or they are looking for a preconceived perfection that nobody could fit. I’m in the no expectations zone... I’m not here to date, actually I’ve started seeing someone and we will see how it goes... she isn’t the normal hipppie type I usually am attracted to but then in the long run that has not gone that well. I don’t cheat but have been cheated on and I’m weary and wary of it all... going with the flow and doing my best not to be attached to a particular outcome is how I plan to move forward. I’ve finally learned my happiness is my responsibility, if someone else who is already happy wants to be happy together that will be grand. I have nothing in common with the girl I’m seeing and so far that has not been a problem.

ArdentAtheist comments on Apr 12, 2018:

Getting over someone
ArdentAtheist comments on Apr 12, 2018:
Is it truly necessary to get over it? You had what some never get, it’s ok to remember fondly... In time you will be able to live with it but first you must own it. What you push away will came at you faster, just be with it, let go of the thwarted expectations as that’s the part the makes us upset. Your path changed but did not end☯️

Why do so many people on here, especially the self-described atheists, spend so much time discussing...
ArdentAtheist comments on Apr 11, 2018:
Because religion is holding us back from scientific discovery, it’s influencing politics and people have been killing each other over it for thousands of years! I can’t imagine an institution that has caused more fear and suffering, not even to mention it’s a molestation mill, oops I mentioned it. It’s a medieval method of controlling people and we really need to move on. Allow me to take this moment to thank every single person that bashes religion in the name improving “this” life, the only one we get, thank you.

ArdentAtheist comments on Apr 10, 2018:
After 911 I did for many years, I think it has not happened in about 3 years. I’m from Staten Island, watched the buildings go up, lost friends and all of my friends lost friends. The surveys never seem to include my answer. Took 3 days to get an email response from my best friend who was a fireman on the pile, all he wrote was, “It’s hell, Joe is dead”. Can’t even type that without it flooding back.
Is anyone here a foodie?
ArdentAtheist comments on Apr 10, 2018:

Can I be a Catholic Atheist?
ArdentAtheist comments on Apr 9, 2018:
I was raised Catholic and still will show up at a wedding or what have you, I have never needed to say I was or wasn’t Catholic, usually we go out to dinner after whatever happy or sad occasion it may be. The term “catholic atheist” will either piss off Catholics, atheist or both... Sometimes doing nothing is the best course of action so until religious affiliation is required on a drivers license I wouldn’t worry about it.
Has any of you experienced anything that could be labeled supernatural during meditation?
ArdentAtheist comments on Apr 9, 2018:
Not yet, just being present. Reality is what I see in the present, past and future are imagined. I’m not looking for the supernatural nor do I expect it. Awareness can let you see parts of you normally drowned out, it’s nothing supernatural.

I flat out tell them in both politics and religion to look at all sided and make up your own mind, so far I have not raised a theist or a Republican:) I have 14 year old twins and a 17 year old. They live with me half the time.
Is Buddhism a religion?
ArdentAtheist comments on Apr 8, 2018:
I studied Buddhism formally with a Guru who claimed it was a practice not a religion, You can be a Catholic Buddhist or an atheist Buddhist... Just like you can be a gnostic atheist or an agnostic atheist. I still work with meditation, I find it usuful, I’m not praying, there is no god and it’s effects are scientifically testable. I consider myself to be an, Almost Buddhist, vegan, atheist, coffee drinking guitarist . Of these the coffee is the one most like a religion, or is it a practice?

What's your zodiac sign ?
ArdentAtheist comments on Apr 8, 2018:
Just read every comment on this, very surprising to see that a group of freethinking agnostic/atheists would put any stock in astrology. I’m not sure what to think of that? To me it’s supernatural hooey, like another form of religion with no basis in reality. I’ve got to side with Neil Degrasse Tyson on this one. Present a random horoscope to an audience and ask the audience, “who in the audience feels as though this represents them?” far more than 1/12th of the people raise their hands and that’s all it takes disprove astrology. They are general and you can find meaning to apply to your life almost anyplace you look for it. Hey, if it’s fun and you know it’s entertainment that’s one thing but if you miss out on what could be the greatest relationship of your life because they are a particular sign thats almost a form discriminatory bigotry, it’s judging people based on a supernatural unfalsafiable premise. If you believe in this stuff while at the same time claiming agnosticism frankly I’m confused. Then consider a sign is missing from the zodiac and that the stars have moved so you really aren’t even the sign you think you are. If someone in a bar ever asks me what my sign is my answer will be, STOP.

Aren’t you glad to have this site as an alternative to Facebook?! ?
ArdentAtheist comments on Apr 6, 2018:
I stopped any significant use of Facebook long ago, I’m very active on twitter... I’m glad to have this not as an alternative but because it’s very specifically delving into a topic I find important, I conclude much of religion to be damaging but damaging or not I don’t believe we are served by indulging in falsehoods... I have an atheist twitter page that I will continue to be active on, I sit here toggrling between them and my political pages... I like compartmentalizing my interests so when I want to delve deep on a topic nothing is in the way.
Would you rather be famous and poor or be wealthier but not famous?
ArdentAtheist comments on Apr 6, 2018:

Do any of you get frustrated having a debate with Christians ?
ArdentAtheist comments on Apr 6, 2018:
I would like that if I could find one that could do it intelegently, when they say it’s a matter of faith they are saying I don’t care about facts, effectively they aren’t listening after that. Also I am probably just as bad from their perspective since I’m not going to except faith or personal experience that occurs only inside them as evidence of anything but delusion.
