I don't watch the award shows. Awards-granted is not a criteria by which I choose to consume movies. Those 'opinions' often sway votes, which can lead to awards, which often leads to (sometimes HUGE) monetary gains for some of the 'entities' associated with the movie. I would say those opinions can make a difference.
