Believers fall for this "because of sin" thing. It appears that god wanted to destroy the world by water in Noah's time and it was because of sin. Whatever this meant it was not sexual sin because god planned to get the world populated through incest. With only 8 people left after the flood, god is going to use that same plan again.
sin is when you forget who you are. And you are not aware about the consequences of what your actions are going to cause. Examples scientists experiment on food and change the DNA of a plant or food that we eat. They don't care what it is doing to our bodies or the people around them.
Or when a person just sleeps with anyone you don't know what that person has that can be transferred to you. Spiritually or physically. Diseases. Some people don't care or just don't know that they have a disease. You don't care enough about yourself to be aware of who you sleep and let inside you. Treat yourself as sacred enough to know you deserve better and not just any living being inside you.
Or you kill animals just for game. No thought in that. What are these animals helping with in our environment. You don't know what the purpose of that animal is for. And animals are becoming extinct.
I can go on and on about these examples and obviously. The way some religions teach is more of judgment and is highly corrupted. We all have a moral compass and most of the times it like you would not get it from the outside world.
check his bank balance. I'm sure that's in his plan.

I think the idea is that pretty much everyone "bad" dies and then god magically makes everything all better so all the "good" people can live in paradise.
