It's now eleven years old but deliberately set in early nineties Australia. A film I have only just seen but have to say "If it is worth viewing eventually my eyes will see it". So much so that I have rewatched listen to the director Elissa Down's commentary throughout the replay. The movie is "The Black Balloon".
It is a movie that will certainly get you thinking and leave quite an impression.
I am surprised that it did not win any big awards outside of Australia. The acting of Luke Ford playing the role of a seventeen years old autistic with ADD I found to be profoundly moving and embarrassingly realistic.
Recommended for everyone's bucket list ... insensitive assholes included.
I'd never heard of it. Better see if I can get it somewhere.
It probably is already a cult movie. It looks like it is available here, don't know about overseas viewers. If you can't get to see it let me know and I will post my copy of the DVD.
Sounds interesting... I look for it...
Did you have any luck locating it?
@FrayedBear its on my list of things to do... Its a long list... Since I joined this site lol
