And it works both ways. Communication is not an exact science and is full of pitfalls and misunderstandings. I have a close friend that is hard of hearing. She is constantly getting wrong messages.

I have a friend that is hard of hearing. Telephone communication was becoming impossible and she would not use the internet. I got her one of the free phones and talked her into installing the internet so she could have a visible text when she was on the phone. It made a world of difference.
@Lorajay Unfortunately, my friend has all of these and even a hearing aid (a cheap one as she says the good ones are very expensive). Maybe she should take lip-reading classes. lol
Actually the responsibility of communication is in the person communicating not the person listening

I disagree, no one can communicate with someone who is not interested in listening. However when this happens, leaving the conversation and the relationship if there is one is always the best choice.
