You may be right. Consider this, the election in reality was very close. The attack on Hillary had been relentless and probably one of the most sexist orchestrated attacks in political history. Couple this with the Clinton's propensity to come off as entitled and out of touch with much of America. Along comes a sophisticated media campaign that was targeted to incite and divide factions within Americsn society. It was a perfect storm of unusual circumstances. So while the Russian impact was potentially nominal in the opinions affected. Neverless it only needed to be nomonal and intelligently targeted to turn the tide.

@TheMiddleWay There is some truth on your statement. But there is a difference in the nature of the focal point and origin of each groups complaints. And the other is complaining about being made accountable for behavior which is now and has alwsys been reprehensible and immoral (of which the complainers are guilty). You figure out who who's who. I understand the difference between a Republic and a true Demicracy. That is why I put "democracy" in quotes above. I do not understand individulals who believe the end justifies the means. It leads to short term gains, but long term diminishment. It doesnt last. Your family may be political, but that doesnt mean they were ethical. I can only speculate based upon your arguments, if you are indicative of their paradigm. I do not know them or you. Therefore. only speculation.

The spokespersons speaking on behalf of Humanists organizations reject "state atheism" as incompatible with Humanism.

Meaningful change exists in the absence of traditional ideas and beliefs.
t1nick comments on Dec 31, 2018:
Meaningful change occurs when the existing paradigm no longer adequately addresses the prevailing questions. New explanations compete for most relevant . When the best arises out of the competing group, it replaces the old paradigm. This is called a paradigm shift.
t1nick replies on Jan 1, 2019:
@Atlas_Rising I agree with most of what ypu are saying. Yet I cant help thinking that you might be goving short shift to the inidividual advances yhat occur in science (my field, so most examples I reference are with this in mind). There are large jumps in scientific understanding that occur. But, here's the caveat (I bend to your argument here lol), no development in Science that I am aware of was made in a vacuum. Take for instance, evolution. Darwin developed his theory on his voyage around the world. But prior to Darwin, people like Lamarck, Lyell, and Linneas were contributing to a foundation that would become Darwinian evolution. Simultaneously, Wallace on his voyage aroundvthe world also came to the same conclusions, but without the knowlege of Darwins conclusions. The stage was set for the development of this theory as witnessed by the contemporaneous development. It marked a major paradigm shift in biological science. But yes, it was based on traditional thought processes as witnessed by an understanding of the scientific process.

Without knowing what you are basing your criticism upon, its one that I leveled myself on occasion. I have a PhD in Educational Leadership. I chose not to move into my doctoral field, but instead remained in the classroom as a high school science teacher (30 yrs). I realized when I finished my program and dissertation, my talents remained in the classroom. I always complained that college professors in education were people that had been in the classroom once upon a time But have been out of the classroom long enough to forgotten the what its like to be in front of the students.
@Atlas_Rising. I respect your opinion, but I still stand by my definition. This the definition I use to define all paradigm shifts, as I understand and teach it, It represents a new way of thinking. May be the same problem, but a totally new way of thinking about the problem. For instance, proor to 1930, geologists believed that the Earth's crust was one solid shell, with cracks which accounts for volcanoes. Around this time, Alfred Wegener shocked the geological world by proclaiming that the crust was not one solid unit, but series of connected plates. It took another 30 years for the proof and the geological world to come around to his way of thinking. This may sound insubstantial, but it is not. It was a completely new way of thinking about the data. It had far reaching implications for the field of science. Not just geology.

Those able to articulate their abstract reasoning and direct their clan group more successfully, was better placed for finding a more fit mate, making for a progeny that potentially had superior genes. Sexual selection and natural selection. An over simplified explanation. But I hope it gets the gist of the concept.

False reasoning. Need to understand evolutionary theory. Your answer makes specious claims that are unsupportable. Also you need a better understanding of the animal kingdom. Many species modify the objects in their environment into tools. True not as extensivly as humans but see post above for a better explanation.

@ASTRALMAX, @kgoodyear. Many things are not immediately discernable by us. However, observations by multiple researchers over a multiple centuries, patterns emerge. Disparate events and data are brought together to realize the connections. Not all connections are overtly seen or apparent. We know they are at work because we can document changes and work bsckwards to reconstruct events. Sometimes the evidence is tangentjal and not always recognizable at first. An example: taking am organism out of its biome or habitat impacts the entire boome. Changes potential events and possibilities. We may not be able to see or realize the chsin of events resulting from this. but changes did occur. It at the wrong time or at a tipping point., outcomrs msy be readily visible.

@DUCHESSA Duchessa. Correct me if Im mistaken. The urban population in Argentina is by far more educated and sophisticated than the peasants coming north from Central America. The rural area of Argentina, perhaps not so much. As such, access to power, lack of access to resources for fighting back against the groups oppressing them, and any level of sophistication makes the peasnts choices much more limited. An intellectual society hss much greater chance of succeeding (not to say a grass roots movements of peasants can't succeed see Okinawa)

@DUCHESSA. Given the sheer number, statistics assures you will have a small percentage of criminals in the group. No proof that its anything more than a few. If the customs are going their job,( no reason to assume they are not) the majority of criminals should get identified in the vetting. The majority of the people fleeing and in the caravans are not criminals. Simply peoplefleeing the crime, the Gangs, the poverty of their own country. Of which the US is complicit in creating by our interjection in their country politics last Century. The drug dealers, gang members, and assorted bad elements do not apply for assylum and go through customs vetting. They sneak over the border. In which case we are not speaking about them.
