I completely emptied the back of my van fitted curtains and a roller blind to the windows .
Put mattress pillows and duvet to cover the floor .Met her in the bar where she gave me a signal,which was dropping her car keys.
We left in different vehicles two different directions 2200 hrs .I drove to our local woods and parked up and waited .I could hear her car arriving ,now getting excited.
She parked her car next to mine and proceeded to get out and walk towards me .
She looked so beautiful.

I have done so many things for love. I have taken on decisions just because I could tell my love was getting frustrated at herding cats. I have gone out of my way to find just the perfect gift. I have remembered events months after they were discussed just so that I could offer support at the appropriate time. I have driven many thousands of miles just to spend a few hours with a loved one. I pay attention to what they say and take action on it. That one little thing seems to get the most shocked responses. I can't understand why people don't listen to the ones they love. Not just taking time to hear the words but process those words and make changes in your life to make your partner happy.

Not a romantic thing just a simple brain saying this may help someone live.
My only daughter was born three months prematurely. I was told that she had a 50:50 chance of living. She was moved to a major hospital where they could care for her. Her mother would not follow. Consequently I spent up to 16 hours each day being beside her humicrib, talking, holding her tiny hand or more usually she trying to hold my finger, feeding her through the tube to her stomach, resuscitating her the hundreds of times she stopped breathing ... all merely survival and necessary encouragement in my view. I noticed that she liked to grasp the wires and tubes to her monitors feeling and exploring the plastic. My little brain said "I can do better than that" so I bought gaily coloured felt and cut it into animal shapes that were stuffed after sewing. Her favourite was the snake as she could totally close her little hand around it feeling the different thicknesses along it's length. I must ask her now that I'm reminded if she still has that snake.
I guess my brag on this is that I made them somehow after being with her for up to 16 hours, driving one hour each way, looking after myself and occasionally visiting her mother.
But for your "driving halfway across the country" resonating very strongly with similar effort that I have made that has unfailingly proven worthless I would not have responded to your post @FlippantLlama. Namaste.

As an adult, I reconnected with my high school boyfriend for a while. I For his birthday, I gave him a small metal tin containing ephemera I had saved—a rose bud he gave me at 16, a lock of my teenage hair, a photo of a trip we took, and a concert ticket stub. He was happily surprised I had held onto those things long after we broke up.
