Hi! This is my first post here. I gained a lot of weight caring for my mom throughout her cancer treatments until she died in 2015. In 2017 my dad had a surprise triple bypass surgery. After that I changed both of our eating habits, counted calories, ate high nutrient, low calorie foods and joined healthywage.com. I made a monthly bet I would lose 60 lbs in 9 months on Dec 6, 2017 and I won! My profit was 2k$. I am not promoting the site other then to say it is real and worked for me...and I got paid.

Well, I lost my 80# (240-to-160 in 40-months) w/o getting paid $ to do it... but it put all my blood parameters back to where they should be and backed me out of a pre-diabetic condition. So I DID have a good payoff! And now I know how to eat healthy for life. Still have 15# to go to be at college weight of 145-150#. Plant-based whole-foods.

Thanks for the tip, and congratulations for loosing 60 lbs. Please accept my condolences on behalf of Battling Obesity. Have you been watching Dr. Fuhrman on youtube; he recommends that kind of diet?

Nope, just made up my own diet...part 4 hour body (Timothy Ferris), part Mediterranean and part low and slow carbs. Calorie counting works best...it is all about the math really.

@DarwinGal Mediterranean is a good one; mostly vegetables, and very little meat, usually fish. Similar to the Japanese and Okinawan diet. All those cultures have people who live long healthy lives.

Posted by OldMetalHeadThe hardest part for me is not falling back into old bad habits after meeting goals.

Posted by JonnaBononnaI had finally gotten back on track after gaining back most of the weight I lost a couple of years ago.

Posted by JurneeI have to say, as an overweight karate instructor, this is the one patch that I was ok with never getting.

Posted by DotLewis7 March 2020 - Diet Diary - Been quiet around here lately. I've not been on vacation, just keeping a low profile and trying to stay on top of things. Are those things incompatible?
