8 April 2019 - Diet Diary - Trying to keep a lid on intake today but it was harder than I expected. Take a couple days of loose monitoring and getting back on the strict tracking takes some effort. It wasn't too bad, finished at 1170 but had intended to be closer to 1100 today. Always a learning process. Gave up my evening coffee tonight, wanted to come up short of 1200 and I don't drink black coffee.
Not an unusual day, nice outside, sat on porch with the neighbor for a while after exercise class. Got a few things listed on classifieds last night that just need to move out of my realm. Sold a couple lawn chairs and 6 pairs of pants/shorts in a size I have no intention of needing again. Big step, no plan to go back, if my current clothes get too tight, STOP EATING SO MUCH! No more going back to storage and pulling out the bigger jeans. Just to prove how committed I am, I bought new underwear! Three sizes smaller!!
I have always followed that system in the past - getting rid of my big clothes when I lose weight - but I don't think I am going to if The manage to get my weight down this time. They will serve as a warning and a reminder!
I've not generally been inclined to get rid of those things in the past. Of course, getting rid of anything is hard for me. About 8 years ago, I did finally get rid of the small clothes I had hung onto for years, always telling myself I would get back into them someday. Back then I often thought I would lose weight but most of my diet efforts were short term, knocking off maybe 15 pounds if I was lucky. Then, 8 years ago I decided I wasn't going to stress about it anymore, that I wasn't THAT fat and I was generally healthy so what was I dieting for? I had no interest in "attracting" someone and got around OK, with no obvious weight related health issues. So, I gave up dieting and the smaller clothes.
Then, almost 2 years ago, about 6 months after a diagnosis of Paroxysmal AFib, I had an episode and before even getting out of bed, started reading about contributing factors for AFib, wondering if weight played into it. Indeed, it was listed as a possible factor so I got out of bed, resolved to take of the excess weight. That resolve has stuck, although the loss hasn't been rapid, it has been fairly steady when I was in loss mode, until the last couple months while trying to lose the last few pounds I intend to.
I hope my resolve does not waiver in the future. It is definitely my intention to continue, much the same as I do now, weighing regularly, eating cautiously and doing intermittent diets whenever a couple pounds creeps back on. My reminder, if I don't stay resolute will be that I have NOTHING to wear because I don't have any larger clothes to get out. When I find myself having to go buy some larger ones, it will (hopefully) be that slap, the kick in the pants, that says NO! You WILL NOT put all that weight back on!
Posted by OldMetalHeadI hit a new weight milestone this week. Still trying for the six-pack.
Posted by OldMetalHeadThe hardest part for me is not falling back into old bad habits after meeting goals.

Posted by JonnaBononnaI had finally gotten back on track after gaining back most of the weight I lost a couple of years ago.
Posted by JurneeI have to say, as an overweight karate instructor, this is the one patch that I was ok with never getting.

Posted by DotLewis7 March 2020 - Diet Diary - Been quiet around here lately. I've not been on vacation, just keeping a low profile and trying to stay on top of things. Are those things incompatible?
