I'm betting you did nothing in particular and that your answer will be just that.. "You did nothing." or even more frustrating will be.. "I don't know." It is more likely this is just how your family relationship has evolved over the past 20 - 30 years. This lack of interest in you just is. The situation is normal. It might be they have gotten so used to dealing with their lives without your inclusion that they don't give you a second thought even when you are in the room. Whenever I run into a situation where someone I have been friends with or somewhat close to stops interacting with me I also wonder "what did I do." . It is a natural reaction of a person who cares for the feelings of others but it also points a finger to my own insecurities that need attention as well. Instead of asking , "What did I do?" maybe approach it from a "How can I be more involved with you from now on?" Good luck! :)

My grandparents collection of 78s. I received close to a hundred records in the 70s from my maternal grandparents belongings when such things were being sorted.. The music ranged from the 40s to the late 50s.. Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, Bill Haley.. and many more. I did many things with my grandmother Alice when I was little.. she taught me chess and cribbage.. we listened to music while we played.I got to choose and work the HiFi in the huge wooden cabinet. When I went to travel through Europe for a year in '86 I stored my "stuff" in my mothers basement as we lived in the same city at the time and it was convenient to move. When I returned and found another apartment and continued life the records were no longer amongst my belongings. Now.. to be clear.. there has never been any admission on my mothers part that she was even aware the records were in my stored items. On the face of it I take her at her word and have never pushed the subject. Really not that big a deal. And I am pleased to have had the foresight to record the majority of them on cassette format shortly after receiving them, which I have somewhere here. My suspicion is that my mother's sister, who objected to me getting the music in the first place as she considered them a treasure from her "teen" years (And fair enough.. they are). I'm pretty sure a visit was made in my absence and the collection simply traded hands and vanished. I'll get the lowdown from my sister when Mom passes. Until then.. I consider them lost to me at this time. LOL Great memories of Alice.. a little teary here.. thanks Sheila. xo
