11 April 2019 - Diet Diary - Well, the snow came, the wind whistled and roads closed but even though temps today didn't get out of the mid 30's, most of the snow on pavement melted by mid afternoon. Not a big issue for me as I stayed in much of the day, working on floor. Got the old tile scraped off all the area it needed removed from. NOT a fun thing, that tar paper is nasty and sticky. Have NO idea why that was put on the floor, maybe a strange effort to waterproof the floor. Much of the removal required use of a heat gun to soften the tiles and adhesive. Now the house stinks of hot vinyl. Hmm, under different circumstances, "hot vinyl" might be a cool thing. 😉

Got the plywood down on most of the floor, tomorrow I'll start nailing it down as well as cutting the last piece. Need to look for that air nailer my dad had, would make the job a little easier. Of course, sometimes the learning curve on new tools is longer than the time to do it old school.

Intake was right at 1100 today. Went to the neighbor's with soup for supper and baked some cornbread muffins in her oven to go with it. Just had one, left 2 with her for later and brought 2 home so might have one for breakfast tomorrow. Take the truck for servicing at 1PM so will have a break as I usually just wait while they do it. Too cold to go walking while they service so I'll take a book. Hope all out there enjoy their day, it won't last long, then it will be Saturday. 😀

Well done on floor progress! It sounds as if you have bee.n amazingly disciplined today. It helps sharing food with someone else though. The end is in sight!

It is nice eating with someone else. Studies show that just having someone to eat with helps seniors (probably younger people too) experience less social isolation and depression. My neighbor is 95, both of us live alone so after I retired, I started visiting her regularly and the last 2-3 years I have been taking food over and eating with her pretty regularly, usually whenever I cook up something fresh or like last night, when I pull something out of the freezer. She gets "meals on wheels" for lunch during the week so it is usually evenings. Every couple weeks she will give me money and tell me to go somewhere and get carryout for us. Not a good "diet day" but kind of nice to get a take out burger or chicken now and then.

Where are you...North Dakota? Alaska? Canada?

Kudos on your low calorie count...I'm a portion control kinda guy....experimenting with black coffee and store bagels sliced twice for thinner pieces (failed....crumbled...oh well).

You would think! But no, I'm in Kansas. Yet I have people I know here who say climate change isn't a thing.

Thanks for the kudos. I have to go with counting, I think because I have to see the numbers. I can eat limited size portions but the counting reminds me I have had enough portions. Half cup of ice cream is a serving (cruel one but yet a serving) and if I look at it as 140 calories out of the day's allowance, I know what I'm dealing with. If I don't count calories, I can limit to an NLEA serving size but I don't know how to translate that into how much total food I can have in a day. I could have just one portion of ice cream with one portion of cake after a portion of chicken and sweet potato and veg and bread and....... Well, I just wouldn't know when I needed to stop. It would be simpler if I didn't have to count, which for me includes recording as just keeping a running total in my head only works for so long. Of course, what would be really nice would be if I had been one of those weird people 😉 who never had to think about what they ate, they just don't put on weight. Missed that boat though.

Posted by JurneeI have to say, as an overweight karate instructor, this is the one patch that I was ok with never getting.
