I 1st noticed the guy going off on someone a few weeks ago. Then he went off on me, over nothing.
Now this week it appears that he has gone after more good members here.
There is no way I see all of the posts or comments, so I can assume the asshole is having a field day getting his jollies, spewing his disrespect.
So if he has given you shit needlessly, speak . I'd like a headcount.
He blocked me, so he probably won't be able to read this. ( First he attacks me, then insults...then he fucking blocks me ! Is he scared of his own shadow???)

He has given me shit, completely unprovoked, many times. Sometimes in threads in which I have not even commented. And has harassed me in unsolicited private messages - just trying to pick a fight.

Yeah, I have witnessed that a lot. Really odd. He also boasts about how academic he is; he told me that he has a PhD in philosophy or something. It's funny that that intellectual side of him never shines through his comments.
I believe some form of dementia may be involved, he goes BALLISTIC (is there bolder type? Because the level is Psychotic!)) at the Slightest hint of disagreement, no matter the subject or any charming previous interactions you may have had with him.
Let's be kind & consider we may all be there one day. Whatever he says, agree or simply ignore.

I have not engaged with @Triphid directly, but I have seen a recent uptick in ‘unhinged’ vitriol over issues that are not directly related to agnosticism or a belief in a deity.
Topics like the war in Ukraine, domestic blue vs. red politics and idiotic (if not offensive) memes that should (in my view) remain relegated to Facebook, seem to capture the attention of the few who seem to believe that a website dedicated to the question of the existence of a supreme being represents an open book on any other issue!
In my humble opinion, the more diverse the topics for discussion and unique the groups on this website, the weaker the site itself becomes. What, after all, does a belief in a supreme being, or lack there of, have to do with one’s political leanings? And, in the interest of disclosure, I am a liberal-moderate who has voted conservative more often than liberal, but have become more progressive in my older years.

Obviously I'm one of those who posts content of a political nature. In another age I might agree with you that such provocative content is not appropriate for a site like this one, but not in the world we inhabit today. Evangelical Christians practically voted as a single unit to burden us with one of the worst presidents of my lifetime, possibly of all time. Their religious beliefs had everything to do with their preference for the disgusting Cheato who continues to threaten our democracy. And one could argue that the cult of Trump is itself a religion. The war in Europe is also a relevant subject, as it is all about Putin's disbelief in the sovereign state of Ukraine, and his project to make all Russians believe what he wants them to believe. And the Cheato and his minions have deep ties with Putin, and support Putin's genocidal adventure in Ukraine. All these things are intricately related. So yeah, I think certain political content is appropriate here. I hope you enjoy my posts, because they're going to keep coming. 
At times, this site feels like a fringe Facebook platform, alot of peculiar topics being posted about. On the public feeds I try to keep my posts lighthearted. Alas, as it's often been said, all good things come to an end eventually, and think this site is past its "golden days".
@Flyingsaucesir Appreciate your posts, but as I see it, the issue isn’t just about the Orange Man, it’s about electing Republicans in general. Electing Republicans inevitably leads to conservative judicial appointments, and the opinions we get from them are atrocious, particularly in their prioritization of the powerful over the powerless, and their deference to religion. Roe v. Wade is history, access to voting is being restricted and the church is being all but encouraged to intrude into affairs of state. As a nonbeliever, my personal freedoms to be free from religion are under assault by the Right, every day.
@p-nullifidian I agree, it's about the whole Party, but it's not the GOP we remember from our youth. It's now the Party of Don Cheato. Inasmuch as he is publicly discredited, it makes it harder for anyone paying homage to him to get elected in a general election. It's a big project; there's a lot if ground to cover. I hope you will join me in fighting these SOBs. Let's expose them for the abject hypocrites and liars they are!
I blocked him a couple weeks ago. I didn't see any point in interacting with him any more. He was only bringing hate and vitriol, and could not even be cajoled into saying why he was pissed off. He only had ad hominem attacks. It's like he's got a screw loose. I kinda feel sorry for him.

A while back, I had a similar experience from him. I had no idea why he got ticked off with me at the time, and in a round about way told him. I avoided him for several months, and recently, he has become genial to me. His neighbor stories are hilariously entertaining. His wife story was frightening and psychotic. Is he rehearsing to be a crazy, funny, curmudgeonly, eccentric mad-hatter or does he suffer from dissociative identity disorder or schizophrenia? Who can guess correctly?

I tend to think that he may have been deeply hurt and he internalized it.
Don't remember clearly, but that may be why I ticked him off. I reminded him of an unhappy event in his life.
He blocked me after my first (really innocuous) encounter 2+ years ago. 
I have blocked no one.

He has said some cruel and idiotic things, but he has often revealed his deep ignorance of subjects vital to his past work. He hasn't blocked me, but I resist interacting with him. He's an asshole who won't learn, and he's well into his own twilight. Sucks to be him.

After I had a clever but in no way rude comeback to his patronizing response to a comment I made on someone else's post, he turned Mr. Hyde. A week long exchange of insults ensued with him diving far into the gutter of juvenility, and eventually blocking me.

The person you refer to is unable to have an intelligent conversation - IMHO. Almost every comment or response opens with an attack of some sort and goes down hill from there.
I have yet to see any facts to back up his various claims, just ad hominem attacks. I think he watches fox news and tucker carlson exclusively.
He has not gone after me personally but at one point I did comment that he needed to lose the ad hominem attacks as they do not lend to an intelligent conversation.

Acording to him the rail company stated he should have run 4 klms & back to get a gas mask before rescuing the body of what would, after that time, been a dead mate & huge dissipated gas cloud. Reason for anyone to have a chip on the shoulder.

@FrayedBear We ALL have shit happen, some have really bad shit happen. My level of shit happened is pretty mild but I do try really hard to NOT visit my shit happened on to others.
I have been keeping a low profile for weeks because of him. I was finding that there was no comment that I could write without him having something negative to say about it. It was really hurtful because he and I actually started out as "friends", I thought. I also felt that his constant complaints about his neighbor were starting to become overwhelming. I thought I was the only one who noticed this because few came to my defense when the attacks happened.

@twill Thank you. I wanted to ask others how they felt about his rants, but I did not think that the question would be well received. I came to this site for comradery and it seemed like I had found it at first, but like a lot of places on the internet this site can sometimes be hostile, unfortunately. Thanks for bringing attention to a growing problem.

@MyTVC15 That's one of the reasons why I never cared much for social media, people you meet online appear friendly at first and then just like that out of the blue they freak out on you, and start gossiping about or harass you.
He only lives a few hundred kilometres from me and I've fact checked his posts a few times, checking court findings etc. It's all bullshit. He likes to sensationalise and string you yanks along a bit/a lot, and yank baiting is a bit of an aussie pasttime, but until your comment I hadn't realised he had started to become malicious.

I have been told people in the psychology field are either crazy when they get into the field or become crazy from dealing with other crazy people. Seems to fit many people in this profession.

They probably blocked you in their group because you are there to troll. You've responded to a few of my posts with a comment just to state your opinion but didn't want any back and forth. Don't be mad at others for not feeding the trolls.

@DenoPenno I mean a few of my posts in biden pinata and the offensive memes only groups you comment with a mild insult, knowing full well what the groups are about. When I do that in Trump pinata or other related groups I'm told I'll be banned in said group if I continue. So I really don't know what you expected.
I don't have an issue with Triphid and I don't see why it should matter that he is brusque and difficult some times. Some people are so easily offended that they seem like shrinking violets for the most part but while I can find it difficult to sort out some of the things that Triphid posts, they can usually be clarified by a follow up reply in my experience. We don't all see the world through the same lens and I am thankful for that because none of us would have ever experienced the world through the lens that Galileo saw the world and eventually more of us did as well.

If a person can't ley out a logical argument bu instead just insults and attacks, then I tend to think they have an indefensible position. It is almost always the far right people who do this.

Both the far left and far right are known to go on the offense like that, and if I'm not mistaken Triphid leans more to the left. While I've had some heated arguments on here between right-leaning members, none of that could compare to what I've dealt with from some of the resident left-leaning folks on this site. Back then it wasn't uncommon for me to receive hate messages daily, and things got really bad when some members started creating sock puppet accounts just to send me harassing messages. Admin could do very little about it, and shortly after that's when I had paused my account for over a year before deciding to give it a try again. Both political extremes can be vicious.
I think he has posts that I have read, if they are bad I just skip them and pay no attention. I figure it is just another idiot trying to piss me off and I will not give them that much control over me.

From the canned one and two-liners he was using with me, some decent and some not so much, I got the distinct impression they were like new toys for him which he would look for any excuse to play with. I didn't notice this in his interactions a year ago. And it also felt like he'd continue to send provocations my way just to see what my response might be, as if he was taking notes. Strange.
