Just a little up-date to my posting, Shara's mother rang me not 5 minutes ago. Shara is still in hospital whilst they work on stabilising her medication regime, a very wise and forward thinking doctor has also prescribed medical marijuana extract in a capsule form for Shara. Shara remembers little from the seizure, only to be expected, but remembers seeing "lots of strange flashing colours" before it happened and " a big kind man with no hair who held her hand and told her that everything would be better soon." I'll be heading for the shower in about 3/4 of an hour as Shara has asked for the "man with no hair" to come and see her because she wants to give him lots and lots of big hugs ( who could refuse such a request?). Shara's Mum will be collecting me from home at about 10am.

Mine, I would most definitely have to say, would be through my daughter undergoing Chemo for Lymphoma and her best friend at school and her mother visiting us whilst we were in Adelaide, Australia for 10 months of treatment when she, Meg, was also having check-ups and treatments for her battles with cancer. That close friendship has grown even stronger since my daughter lost her battle ( 2001) and Meg lost hers in 2016, now her husband, Alan, daughter Naomi, husband Matt and son Henry treat as family much much more than my own ever did.

Oh for the days when you could give kids like those a swift kick in their arses. About 10 years or so ago we had 2 such 'children' in our neighborhood and every home copped stones throw on their roofs, graffiti sprayed on fences, mail stolen from mailboxes, etc, and even car tyres let down or spiked. The mother of these 'sweet, little darlings' was less than useless as a parent so we all contacted a well respected, retired Policeman. He spoke to the Magistrate on our behalf and quite unexpectedly go an Exemption from Prosecution Under the Child Abuse Act, presented a copy to the mother whilst accompanied by 2 uniformed Officers, then proceeded with giving each 'child' as swift boot up their arse and then informing them that they WILL BE working in every yard of EVERY house in the neighborhood for a minimum of 20 hours per house cleaning gardens, removing weeds and ANYTHING the Homeowner deemed they should, they would receive 1 cup of cool water for every hour of work, 1 slice of bread and 1 piece of fruit SHOULD they be working at lunchtime and they WOULD be required to carry with them a notebook that each homeowner would sign WHEN they started and WHEN they finished each day. Failure to do so would mean that the 'child/children' WOULD be placed for 12 hours per day, every weekend for 4 months in Juvenile Detention. The 'mother' also got written Court notice to 'Clean' up her act as a parent, seek help with her drinking, etc, and that a Court appointed Inspector would be checking on progress BUT at irregular times and dates. Within 12 months we all went from a neighborhood of almost absolute chaos to a very nice, peaceful, friendly one with those 2 children becoming model citizens.

Well I can most honestly and safe state that mine was when, aged about 8 or 9, I asked questions at Sunday School, where I was literally forced to go by my 'mother', and was subsequently expelled. The same/similar happened at EVERY other Sunday School of EVERY other Religious Denomination she forced me to attend.

Many many moons ago I was out walking through a creek in the bush hunting rabbits for a friend on a Sheep Station ( they were a REAL PEST at the time) when, while standing right under a tree sighting up a shot on a rabbit, I squeezed the trigger and fired only to feel a few seconds later something land on my head with a bit of a thump. It turned out to be a White Cockatoo, barely covered with its adult feathers and completely stunned. I picked it up, took it back to camp and then brought it home with me where it became a very great pet/friend whom I named 'Ooops' in honour of its manner of introducing itself to me. Ooops never learned to fly but she could could certainly walk around the neighbourhood and make her presence know to one and all with comments that would make any sailor blush....LOL. Now days, after rescuing and rehabilitating a Wedge-tailed Eagle, similar to the one in the photo below, I have her return to my home on fairly regular occasions to cadge a free feed or just to spend time hanging around the house with me, a rescued Sand Goanna, also living in my yard since she has a damaged left rear hind foot and claws, she too is quite friendly and keeps the snails down in the garden.

Of course the Australian Federal Governments have their citizen's backs - or do they: ...

Back in 1972 when I bought my own FIRST Stereo Sound System WITH an amplifier that could really rock the house I'd play Beatles music, Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds, etc, etc, in my room as loud as I liked simply because; a) I loved the music, and, b) it would piss my 'mother' off 100%, a kind of revenge of sorts for the shit she gave me and the medieval crap we were all made to listen to every single single day.
