Something I have a bad habit of doing (but am working on changing that and have been successful) is ...
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 7, 2019:
I am an encourager. I will go out of my way to tell people when I see them doing something good, or when I see something to be encouraged. I am not guaranteed tomorrow, and if I don't say it now the opportunity will be gone, possibly forever. I have lost about 40 pounds since last September, mostly be exercising and giving up sugar. I just started a new job, I am reinventing myself (well jobwise) at 61. I work for a Not For Profit hospital system.
Here is something fun to do, my oldest will be 52 and I'll be 73?
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 7, 2019:
I will be 71 (oh that seems old) and my oldest will be 44, which also seems absurdly old.
Just on news Joe Biden could start campaign against trump next month.what do you think

Go home Joe, I love you but your time is gone.
WHAT'S YOUR POSITION ON ABORTION ?
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 7, 2019:
Woman's body, woman's choice. No one else's business beside her doctor's.
This made me smile! I love me some Notorious RBG
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 7, 2019:

Throwback Thursday! Just for fun, post a childhood photo. Here's me

I turned 50 in October 2018.
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 7, 2019:
If you haven't read it yet, the book Toxic Parents by Susan Forward will be a world of help. Check with your local hospitals to see if they have a free or sliding scale counseling program. In my area our Methodist Health System (not for profit hospital system) offers that. Or call a pastor at any United Methodist church and ask if they are aware of any programs like that. I found out about the program in my area from a United Methodist pastor, and you don't have to be a church member or religious in any way to take advantage of that program. And please realize it sounds like your mother is mentally ill. You need to make your health and safety a priority. Stay away from her.
Here you go..... Comrades:
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 7, 2019:
That is actually scary.

Does age matter in a relationship?
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 7, 2019:
If it makes you happy, if he treats you well, if your needs are met and it is a healthy relationship, please don't second guess yourself. Does age matter, IMHO NO. If you are both legal consenting adults what anyone else thinks does not matter. Now if you were 17 and he was much older, I'd be happy to stomp his ass. But you're a mature, seasoned woman. If you're happy then no one else's opinion matters.
I did something yesterday that I didn't want to do.
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 7, 2019:
Good for you. It is hard, but you got through. Always do what is best for you.
Many relationships just don't work out. What's a reason you've ended a relationship?
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 7, 2019:
A relationship ended because his mama liked to mess with his mind. She encouraged him to move to out here, and then she hinted her health wasn't so good. She jerked him around this way most of his life, he just wasn't strong enough to stand up to her BS. So it ended because he didn't want me to move to CA, and I really didn't want to, and he couldn't move to NE.
OMG IT'S ME.
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 7, 2019:
I could so do this, IF I didn't have cats and I had better natural daylight.
If you get a lot of unsolicited sales, fundraising, and/or scam calls, I have a suggestion.
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 7, 2019:
I had a caller tell me that my credit card interest rate could be lower, I asked which card. They said Visa or Mastercard. I said yes, but which company authorized you to call me. They hung up. Generally, I don't answer calls for numbers I don't recognize. If they don't leave a message, I block that number.
How could they do this to me...
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 7, 2019:
FFFFFFFFff, back to work 3 days, and kitty girls have discovered "new" toys. I have a bowl of quarters, and I mean big bowl, that has been on the kitchen island for months. Last night quarters became an attractive toy. I have a baggie with broken sticks of chalk for granddaughter to use on the chalk board, it has been there for 8 months, I have pictures. That also became a toy last night. Oh the incredible inscrutable mind of kitties.
I am about to lose my most dear niece to the evils of Ewings Sarcoma.

HippieChick58 comments on Mar 6, 2019:
I believe in you. I have never met you nor do I remember any interactions, but I know all humans have potential for great things and are worthy. Just because YOU ARE. And I promise you this, it will get better. Maybe not today, or tomorrow, but it will get better. You are stronger than you think you are. And always, always, always remember you are worthy, you are loved, you are needed, and you will get through this. (((((@Marcie1974)))))
Question. Do you avoid dating people with the same name as your ex or exes?
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 6, 2019:
My dad was a Richard, my mean brother is Richard, my first ex was Dennis Richard, the father of my children and 2nd ex husband is Richard, and the long term long distance that broke my heart is a Richard. So, I ask you, should I avoid Richards?

Growing up did you ever take piano lessons or other instruments and how good were you?
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 6, 2019:
I took piano lesssons as an adult when my kids did. I did learn how to play a clarinet in elementary and junior high. I am not musically inclined.
Today is going to be a long day.
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 6, 2019:
I learned the hard way that lack of sleep doesn't kill you, it just makes you wish you were dead. I wear a FitBit, so my sleep is tracked, and my heart rate. It is kinda depressing how little sleep I get sometimes. My kitties often contribute to the lack of sleep. They find it amusing to play with their toys on top of me. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, but not in this case.

So, I turned 25 recently and it just hit me that I'm 5 years away from being 30.
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 5, 2019:
Puhleeeezzzzzeeee, you're barely started. Is the misspelling of crysis deliberate? Anyway, I digress, you're still young, the body should still be in working order. Don't waste your time fretting over hitting 30 or any other number before you get there. You're on the greatest adventure of your life, and if you're not then get it started. When you hit my age you can have your existential crisis; and blown out knees, hips, rotator cuffs and all that other delightful stuff. But make it worthwhile.

HippieChick58 comments on Mar 3, 2019:
I grew up in an abusive home, and as some children do I believed it was my fault, or at least much of it was my fault. When I became a parent and my oldest daughter reached the age I was when the serious abuse started, I realized how little control she had, and I had over anything. And that flash of insight that NONE of it was my fault just amazed and freed me. I have all girls and my ex was active duty military, we never lived close to any family until the youngest was almost 12. My kids were never left alone with any member of my birth family. My kids don't know all the details and never will. In discussing this with my younger sister, we're pretty sure our grandparents and great grandparents were abusive for who knows how many generations. But we stopped it for our kids, we are free from that cycle, and I have grown from it. One of my brothers tried some emotional manipulation a couple of years ago, I pushed it right back on him. He hasn't talked to me since. It feels good to be strong, it is freeing to be strong.

My grandmother's neighbor had a cat that liked to sleep in baskets of wet laundry. He went through a cycle in a gas dryer. He got out alive, and was the meanest, toughest SOB cat in the neighborhood. Dogs were afraid of him. There were no other intact male cats in a half mile of where he lived. His ears and tail got broken in that cycle, and from what I remember pads were burned as well. He is lucky to have survived.

Has Porn Become the Ultimate Passion Killer?
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 2, 2019:
The thing with BDSM, there has to be a great deal of trust before you can move in that direction. My gym hours will likely be after work, or peak time for the gym. Yes, I will still wear the shirts, and yes, it is time to think about getting a smaller size.

I got rid of Cable TV in 2015. I've gotten rid of most of my jewelry because I just wasn't wearing it. Tacos just aren't that yummy. Wines are a huge maybe. I haven't worn sweat pants in years. I did find a pair when I was cleaning out closets, they went to the donation bin. Cheese is a sometimes thing, Netflix about 4 times a month maybe, unless SamSam comes over. I gave up sugar which eliminated most chocolate. I'd love to have a dog but my yard would need to be fenced and I can no longer open my sliding door to the deck/backyard. That would be awkward. Coffee is once a day for caffeine only, I'd be just as good with taking caffeine pills. Oh, I add some supplements to my coffee, or vice versa. I've got Books and Cats. Substitute Sushi for Tacos and I can find 3.
I gave up on online dating.
HippieChick58 comments on Mar 1, 2019:
The god thing, I did laugh out loud. Meeting someone when you stop looking... After I became single I was on several dating sites, had a LTLDR (long term long distance relationship). That ended and after a while I tried online dating again. Then I dropped off all dating sites for a couple years, then went back on them, nothing changed. Dropped off again, and on again. After finding Ag.com I dropped off all online dating sites. I'm still single. I don't know if that will ever change. But I have this theory that you should begin as you mean to go on. We make resolutions all the time, so when you decide a change is needed, figure out how you want to be and do it. So I am living like I will always be single. I do what I wanna do when I wanna do it. I do things that make me happy, and I answer only to me. I have taken vacations alone. I eat out alone. I have gotten active with groups in my area with similar interests to mine. I have decided I am the right person for me. I'm going to be happy because I deserve to be happy, and truly I don't mind my own company. It ain't perfect, but even if I had a partner there is no guarantee it would be perfect. It will be what you make it. I'm not waiting for someone else to come along to either complete me or make me happy. I am complete, and I am happy. And more importantly, I am content.

January 13, 2021 My newest and smallest grandchild. She arrived 5 weeks early and is now 2.5 weeks old and is less than 7 pounds. I've never held such a small baby before. She is quite perfect and very amazing. I love being a Grammy.
