Fer sure!! My drug of choice is sugar in the form of chocolate (most of the time). Since I've realized it is a real addiction and it's killing me I've dealt with it somewhat better. Gambling is also an addiction/abuse issue. There are many. A study among folks with bypass surgery shows that after surgery they often switch to another non food related addiction, often compulsive shopping or gambling. The underlying issues need to be addressed.

I have a guest room, however when I have guests I have to clean the junk off the bed, and make the bed. I have to haul out the stuff stored in there, and there is no room in the closet for them to hang anything. My brother stayed overnight at Thanksgiving. I just got through a month like that. The virus from hell, my washer broke, my faucet broke on my tub/shower and I could not turn the water off, my batteries died in my garage door openers, my brother is mad at me, and my daughter was having a crisis with the birth of her baby and I got called to Grammy duty. I had a quiet boring life and it went all to pieces. I'm starting to get back to quiet and boring, still got some stuff to catch up on. Hang in there!

Get out of my diary. I think everything is harder as we're older. We've got baggage and experience we didn't have in our younger days. We've got expectations and we recognize warning signs faster. We continue to try because life IS easier with a partner, and we long for companionship. I'm not willing to settle. I met a man a few years ago that was like a puppy, so eager to please. Hadn't read a book since HS, last time he voted was Bush the first, had some health issues, had kids involved with gangs and was supporting them, and had drama with his ex. I don't need a new project. Some things would have been good, but we just had totally different life expectations. I will compromise, but I won't settle.
