2 years ago I was on a date. The guy brought his 13 year old daughter with him. That didn't bother me at all, I like kids. He says to me, I want you to understand that I am powered by God. He said, God is within me. I said to him that is your ...

Chelsea Manning files to run for U.S. Senate in Maryland - The Washington Post
The first post I saw on Facebook was some dipshit saying that what she did was worse than anything Roy Moore did. Think about that....trying to have sex with underage girls is supposed to be better than whistle blowing on our government. How is that conservative values? I suppose that the next argument will be that while her sentence was commuted, that she's not as cleared of charges as Arapaio and should be disqualified even though he's running.

How do you define Happiness?
My daughter suffers from anxiety and depression, a condition I am just learning about. She recently made the statement that she just wanted to "be happy". That struck me as odd since I've never thought about "being happy". It just seemed like my default position. I'm rarely "unhappy" but am I really ever happy. What is happiness? Is it really a tangible thing or is it a chemical default position you either have or don't have? I'm still struggling with this one in relation to her. I...

Do you have a specific “OCD” trait?
Perhaps it’s an idiosyncrasy. Are you one to diligently perform a task to perfection, or repetition? Do you have a specific routine that must be maintained to ensure a smooth day? Are you one to use hand sanitizers throughout the day? I am somewhat of a germophobe. I do carry hand sanitizer everywhere I go (in my purse)—also, I work in the medical field, so yeah. I like a specific routine when it comes to showering as well. How about you?

Do you trust easily or do you trust no one?
I learned a long time ago not to trust anyone. Most people will snitch on you, backstab you after you just helped them out, use you, abuse you, spread rumors about you, etc... I especially had to learn the hard way in the work force. All the managers and crew gossip. It's like we went back into time and are back in high school again. I don't trust anyone anymore. Parents say to trust them, you can't. Friends that I used to have did it too. I tend to keep to myself because of all the drama I try ...

Is Marriage a Christian Creation?
I believe we have been brainwashed in the US (I can't speak for any other nation) to believe that we can only love one person at a time and only one for our entire lives. How is this even remotely possible with 7.5 billion people on this Earth, how the blah can we choose ONE person??? Obviously we're not meeting all 7.5 billion, but you get my point. And why are we limited to loving one person at a time (in what is termed romantic love)? We love a bunch of people, don't we. Family, friends, ...

POLLHow should the pro choice movement insure its claim to fairness.
Ok, so many people disagree with what I have to say on this issue. I'm pro choice with a twist, since the womens rights movement moved up a gear I've noticed some flaws in there disputes across the board. This issues main flaw talks about pro choice is claiming fairness, a woman has the right to choose cause it's her body. Very well then agreed, it is her body. But to be (FAIR) the man should have the right to choose as well, that's (FAIR). It's her body she can choose to have the child or not, ...

How can one sin if they genuinely believe in the afterlife
So according to the major religions, there is heaven and hell, and sinning gets you put into hell. The descriptions of hell are often pretty graphic and absolutely ruthless, taking the 'punishment doesn't fit the crime' to a whole new level. If people really and truly believe in hell, and that moderate to terrible sins will get them put into hell, how can they sin? It's like holding someone on the edge of a cliff, about to drop them down, and telling them to try doing something - in return ...

Are atheist as racist as religious people?
In my life I have found that more prejudice and racism has come from Christian people. Ironically I was told to not be "unequally yoked together with non-believers." Well, those are the very people who treated me as an equal human being. Thoughts?

Fellow agnostics, how do you feel about believers joining?
This is likely contentious, but it needs to be asked. As this is a site "...promoting universal truths and peaceful life without religion" how do you feel about people of faith joining here? I'm no shrinking violet and I don't need the sort of safe space that so many people believe they do now, but I also don't want to have to engage with people who have been inculcated into some form of unscientific, simple-minded view of the natural world. I joined in the belief (cough) that this was an ...
