I can relate! Every year around thanksgiving I start down hill and it will last until New Years. I often wish I could be transported somewhere else (and in my mind I always see some warm place), but I usually just end up riding it out! At least I have nailed it down in a time frame. I have not really figured out why I get severely depressed at this exact time.
The reason I share this is...in my depressed state, I feel like I have done people in my family wrong (it seems to be mostly family)...and I will lump them all into this same ‘mindset.’ (If they have not been in touch for quite a while.) I have difficulty reminding myself that some of them are there for me, but, they just end up ‘probably disgusted’ with me, too (when I am in this state of mind). And, if I make contact with any of them and they do not get back to me, that is like a double whammy! Or they just send a text, ‘hope you are good, happy thanksgiving!’ In this state of mind, I noticed that I start remembering times when I felt mistreated, maybe in a work situations and I was unable to defend myself and I had to leave. But, most of my torment is about family in general! And, in years past, this downward spiral got so bad...I felt as if my life force is being sucked out of me. And, I could hardly be around people. Actually, I had no energy to be with people. I do know how this works intelligently, and I can keep working through these mixed feeling...of...that I have caused people to want to distance themselves from me and this ‘soul loneliness!’
Now this has to be more than just a feeling of being disconnected to ourselves...this must have its orgin back when we were children and when we felt unprotected and something happen outside of our conscience understanding. My feelings of anguish feels like they have always been a part of me! A feeling that I don’t ‘measure up’ and ‘nobody cares!’ I do have friends that care...but when this depression was at its worse... I lost the belief that even my friends cared.
So try what I am doing...I go out in public and distract myself and I am completely aware of how bad I am feeling and I will ‘ride it out’...because this can’t be the whole story! A couple of weeks ago, I felt normal!
I am sorry that you don’t feel loved...but, I am pretty certain this too will pass, for we are loved, why would we be here...if not for love?🤗

When you feel put on the spot, be sure to take several deep breaths and this will give you more oxygen intake to the brain and if you practice it enough it can help you be calmer, and you will have the feeling of being in charge of yourself. @Stenz after thinking about your situation more, I would like to offer a few more tips. I have experienced this kind of situation several times over my lifetime and some of the simplest things still help.
At least 3 times a week, you need a solid hour of none stop exercise. Working on the different weight machines at the gym, makes a big difference (after a short period of time, I noted an obvious shift in my brain). Because, basicly your brain has slowed for some reason. You can still get similar benefits from a brisk 40 min to a one hour walk everyday. Also, pay attention about your breathing, take a few seconds to do some really deep breathing during the day.
Now, after you have brought your brain up...another careful examination may be in order. Your work itself may not be rewarding. I know that is scary (been there), but that is something you may want to think about. As an artist, (plus a person with depression), I have taken clssses and done my own research and these are the things that I have learned about creativity. It is all about your brain! Also, adding the magnesium supplement might help. It helps in my case. Best of luck!
