@Livia I think that prayer with meals has increased over the years! I feel a little uncomfortable even though I know they have every right to express themselves any way they please! For me, praying, was like bargaining with God...and at some point, that simply made no sense as I didn’t need to constantly remind myself that God wanted my attention and was keeping tabs on me! @silverotter11 this is a good example how each person in the same family resolve their hurts and wounds from childhood! My children’s father was a severe alcoholic and I was in a ‘lost state’ of confusion at that time! Some of my 5 children have become stable and have an understanding of their wounds and some are operating with their wounds very visible and not healed! My children grew up in a good middle class neighborhood, which helped them. But, other children in our neighborhood did not turn out so well either! So my guess is, society as a whole, must be somewhat like my family!
