@p-nullifidian So revisiting the Rittenhouse case, when police hear shots and see a young White man walk away from a BLM protest carrying a rifle, they just exchange thumbs up. Then a MAGA judge manipulates the trial so the killer is released. I certainly wish it were otherwise. It should be as you say. But it isn't. But Uvalde simple repeats the theme, except you have dozens of police stand around, seeing their duty as being to PREVENT parents from acting to protect their children. What do you think is going to happen in November when White police work with their state officials to overturn or fully invalidate all the voting in non-White districts? At gun-point...

@Flyingsaucesir Look at how the mass shootings take place in temples, mosques and Black churches. That is their war on everyone else; they have no respect for other people's places of worship. Until these massacres have a negative impact on them, they'll keep terrorizing everyone else. They approve of the fear that they (supposedly indirectly) impose on the rest of us. What's worth more, a White church or a child?

Mass murders serve the purposes of the Evangelical White Supremacists, and a goodly share of shooters are racists or bigots. Christian Nationalists have a stranglehold on the GQP, and these shootings serve their interest in intimidating those deemed as lesser. "In Study 1, participants reported stereotypes that they believed society held about agnostics, atheists, and Christians. Common stereotypic traits for agnostics were indecisive, questioning, and confused, but for atheists were immoral, intolerant, and evil." Meaning that the researchers surveyed the opinions of a bunch of ignorant morons off Amazon (MTurk), trolled them with an inciteful definition of atheists and found them to be hateful bigots. @JackPedigo We may well not be different. It doesn't look good, but we adapt and so does life. As to the Drake Equation: N= number of civilizations with which humans could communicate. No, the means of communication is limited to the Radio Astronomy signals which are WRONGLY assumed to be the means by which an advanced species would communicate with us (as if they’d have any desire to). This is arrogant gaslighting and nothing less. ne = mean number of planets that could support life per star with planets. Since the Drake Equation was first formulated, science has discovered how life can thrive on chemical sources, and flourishes hundreds of feet below the surface. Basically, our understanding of where life can survive is poor at best. We have no other perspectives other than our own solar system. fl and fi = percent of planets developing life and percent of planets developing intelligent life. These calculations ignore transportation of life, intelligent or otherwise by intelligent species. That doesn’t even assume FTL travel. Fundamentally, we do not have an understanding of how well life survives stellar life cycles, intra-galactic churning, nor how quickly heavier elements necessary for life built up in the early universe. If segregation processes are efficient, life could have started soon after the Big Bang. We simply cannot know these factors. The Drake Equation seeks to endorse the work of SETI, and to discount the possibility of alien visitation. However, many legitimate historical documents indicate that the presence of aliens is either very good or a certainty. Newer documents only address the blowback of trying to keep this a secret in the face of interactions relating to surveillance of defense capabilities. It is a certainty that many more flaws in the Drake Equation can be identified.
Are we doing it yet?

Interesting, isn't it? People can carry guns to kill you in Florida but a woman can't ''kill'' an embryo.
racocn8 replies on May 4, 2022:
An embryo begins making limb buds, but the brain is pudding. Embryos have no consciousness with which to perceive pain. Actually, the brain simulates consciousness from a state comparable to dreaming. The percent of time dreaming drops from 90% to 50% at birth and drops to 20% thereafter.
Incredibly, it's not the one with the 3000-feet-per-second muzzle velocity.

I hear you, but as long as we have Citizens United, people like OKC are at an extreme disadvantage. More political wrongdoing by SCOTUS.

Enacting term limits only makes it easier for those with deep pockets to install the candidate/stooge of their choosing.
Makes sense to me...

Sounds good, but it does not tell me what this "what is right" is. Is it what my conscience tells me? But where does my conscience get its "right" from? My guess: in most cases, this "what is right" can be traced back to what your parents and other relevant people *told* you when you were a ...

Animals have an innate sense of fairness as demonstrated by research. Animals have empathy and even shame. (Religionists lose theirs).

Ashley Nicole Black's tweet sums it all up nicely. We are going backwards.

We've been going backwards for a while. I put it at 1937 with the Nazi rally at Madison Square Garden.
