MUELLER INVESTIGATION COULD HAVE CLASSIFIED COMMUNICATIONS INTERCEPTS PROVING TRUMP WORKED WITH ...
mcgeo52 comments on Jan 13, 2019:
My assumption from day one has been that Mueller had access to any and every thing the NSA had, and has known the real truth the entire time. His job has been to back build the case to get evidence that will be admissible in court. I also believe that this is about a lot more than Trump. Mueller's life has been dedicated to fighting enemies of this country, and the majority of that has been fighting organized crime. Go back and read Mueller's speech on organized crime that he gave eight years ago. He had taken down John Gotti and the Gambino crime family. He knew what was filling that void. There is no one in the world better qualified for the job he is doing than Robert Mueller. Seriously, read his speech: https://archives.fbi.gov/archives/news/speeches/the-evolving-organized-crime-threat
Just because I've collected too many Trump memes . . .

There are 800,000 federal workers not being paid. Figure that each of them strongly influences the votes of at least three other people (e.g., a spouse, a child or two, a sibling or two). That is 3.2 million votes, or enough to easliy swing a Presidential election. And then there are all of the government contractors who are also being hurt by this. That could easliy double the 3.2 million. The Republicans in Congress have no desire to be on the wrong side of that. Trump has put himself in a no win situation. If he doesn't give in on the wall, the Republicans in Congress will have to override his veto if they want any possibility of getting reelected. Once it is absolutely obvious that Trump will not get his wall, his base will begin to crack and leave him. At that point, he might as well start packing.

You may have some that actually had time to ripen before being picked. It's rare but it happens. I would wager that well over 99% of the people in this country do not consistently get properly ripened fruit and vegetables. One of my favorite things to eat is a properly ripened mandarin orange/tangerine. Unless you have access to a tree to pick them yourself, you have probably never had one. It will literally fall off the tree into your hand and the skin doesn't have to be peeled off, merely opened. Unlike the acidic taste you probably associate with the fruit, when properly ripened it tastes almost as sweet as candy. The "problem" with properly ripened fruits and veggies is that they don't have sufficient "shelf life to survive until they get to market and are sold.
Relax... it's all good.

@glennlab, than you for your research on this. This is absolute proof that Pence can be prosecuted. However, the prosecution of the President is a very different matter. Article 2, Section 1, Clause 1 of the Constitution says, "The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America." With a single exception, prosecution of criminal charges is an act of the executive. Hence the DoJ policy that a sitting President cannot be indicted for a federal crime. Of course the single exception is impeachment which is an act of the legislature, not the executive. It is also worth noting that the President is not the executive acting to prosecute state crimes. I am not aware of any valid legal argument that a sitting President cannot be indicted and tried for state crimes.

I think the single most important thing that Congress should try to do is to reinstate the fairness doctrine. Many people I have known for years, if not decades, and that I know to be fundamentally good people, are impossible to have a reasonable conversation with because they are working from a completely different set of "facts". Until our media gives us some common ground to work from we will never solve many of our problems, and the ones we do solve will require much more effort than they should.

Ideally tRump will be gone before the end of this year, and Pence with him [fn1]. I suspect Ryan will also be gone [fn2]. That means the new speaker will probably be a Republican, but this is where it gets interesting. The Republicans may well not be able to get 218 votes for any one person. The Democrats could actually nominate a moderate Republican that they could work with. With 24 Republicans voting with them, they could choose the next President. I would really it rather be a moderate Republican instead of Hillary. Hillary is far to divisive a figure and our country needs healing, not further division. Besides, a Republican could set about undoing a lot of what tRump has done with much less resistance from McConnell (assuming he is still there, which he may not be [fn3]). Stock up on popcorn, boys and girls, the rest of this year is going to be very interesting. _____ **Footnotes** fn1: * it should be obvious that: • tRump has become toxic for the Republicans; Orange County, California, went completely blue this year. (In related news, meteorologists are saying global warming may be sufficient to thaw Hell out within the next two to three years.) • enough Republican Senators are up for re-election in 2020 that impeachment charges with strong evidence against tRump brought six months before the election will force the Republicans to vote tRump out or be voted out themselves. • with the indictments coming out, even McConnell will realize that the Democrats will be able to remove Pence and tRump before the 2020 election and put their Speaker into the White House. • the only way for the Republicans to prevent the Democrats from taking the White House by impeachment is to dump tRump while the Republicans still control the House. fn2: Ryan was very much aware of the Russian influence in the 2016 election. fn3: So was McConnell.
