@MissKathleen way long enough. I gave her the house and all its contents. I just needed out. Tired of being mentally and physically abused. Ended up in a mental hospital for a year. Even after being in the hospital, I tried, again, to make things work. She moved into my apartment and then after a few weeks she started the abuse and I was strong enough to say get out. Let me just say this, since the divorce she has alienated two of the kids, who now won't talk to her. I even tried telling them that communication with their mom was something to be done - they told me to stay out of it or they wouldn't talk to me. The Unitarians, of all people, threw her out. She then got arrested for breaking their windows. I know what the law was, and I could have been better off, financially, splitting things and paying alimony.

Does anyone really care that there is no afterlife?

@Petter Glad you survived. Only gun i ever faced was from a cop, for having an illegal fire on a beach, 100 yards from where legal. I did get a knife pulled on me. I do not remember about one minute of time. I came back into focus and the guy was on the pavement, I was sitting in my friend's car holding his leg, and yelling for my friend to "drive." I am very thankful that the guy got out of my grasp.

@whiskywoman Oh the official church accepts evolution. In places like Kentucky, the church simply turns a blind eye to that ignorance as long as the cash flows. Hell, the Catholic church runs one of the largest Earth bound telescopes with scientists doing real science shit - like looking for the end of the Universe (because maybe god is there).

Some prisons allow the prisoner a choice. It seems to have been a tradition. Many are switching off of that and giving them limited or no choice. Personally, I oppose the death penalty. @SCal I mentioned the Cohen gene because it is often used to identify people descended from the dominant group of people making up the Jewish religion, especially in Israel where 10% of the population of males carries the gene. It is a rarer gene in the general population and only carried by males. Speaking of different backgrounds and people of different color, a group in sub- Saharan Africa, along the coast, long claiming to be descended from Jewish people were tested and 50% of the males did have the Cohen gene. Those tribal people's religious practices do have a smattering of Jewish attributes.
