@Joanne I'm not sure you are taking my statement as intended, but that said, there is absolutely no way to prove a god or gods exist. If a supreme being appears, that does not prove gods do, except for the idea of "miner gods." Can even death prove the existence? Maybe. But, again, logic would say, you are dead and your perceptions can be altered. The idea that one needs a god to be a good person is where my stance on illogical thinking stands. People can be and are good or bad whether they believe in some god or not. Many of those people, who do believe, think only god believers can be good. Many others of the same ilk recognize even non believers can be good, but do to their non belief are condemned to some other fate than the real believers will experience (usually a bad fate, or just nothingness - which most atheists believe anyway).

This very sweet, little fellow belonged to my neighbor a couple of years ago.

@Marionville I have argued most of my life against capital punishment. I had a student once try and goad me with, "What if something happened to a member of your family?" I responded that I hoped someone stopped me from doing something myself. I told him that yes, there are evil people who should not be here, but a country should never kill any of their own people. He actually stopped and thought about that. I agreed that any one would feel emotion, like those people in Norway, but it doesn't make capital punishment worth the cost (interpret cost anyway you fathom its multiple meanings).

@Word, first I don't believe in an actual, that guy there was Jesus. As said above, this is an old tale from multiple societies. That said, illiteracy in said time period was not as pronounced as some like to think. Many people could read. Having the ability to write was rarer, and thus the professional scribe. And, with Jesus, a supposed rabbi, reading would have been fundamental and unsurprising to have associates who could read as well.

And in West Virginia, if you use solar you can't sell back extra energy. And coal has to, by law, produce a certain amount of energy - so much so, that the electric company is trying to have a law revised (only revised as they want to keep the coal plants) so they can build more windmills.

My answer to you is simple, you are right that some people don't deserve to live. There are many really bad and "evil" folks out there. That said, do you think this is the country that you can trust to pick those people and eliminate them? Sure, some, like the Ted Bundys are easy, but what about others? Circumstantial evidence?
