For a while, I had a therapist who was a Mennonite; he had worked at Philhaven, one of the premier mental health hospitals in the nation (they are actually now in charge of MH for the Wellspan group, a large medical group in Central Pennsylvania. My sister, who passed away a few years ago, had been a member of a city sect - no bonnets, etc.

@Willow_Wisp You were in after me (76-81), how was the drug situation? Testing for pot back then was too costly, so weed was common. Pot tests are dirt cheap now. Of course, in different divisions speed was popular as they worked odd and sometimes very long hours. There was some cocaine use - pilots used that and speed. From what I read now-a-days and from talking with current military, the government gives out speed sometimes (drugs that work like speed). We had occasional "health and welfare" checks; officers would go through our belongings looking for bugs and dangerous items (basically a way to search for drugs). My division was perfect for almost 2 years; my LT would give me a heads up on impending searches; such a perfect division got him sent to Princeton law school on the Navy's dime. First search after he left - 6 guys got busted, 2 for drugs and 4 for appropriated items.

The Chinese claim: Taiwan; most of the South China Sea; a piece of India, which would give them a train /auto route to Pakistan; pieces of some neighbors like Vietnam (2 wars in 70 and 80, which was China's impetus for building an actual modern military) After that, their goal is economic domination, something Russians can't do. Now that Xi has been made president for life, and placed on the same level as Mao, he may just go for taking Taiwan. Realistically, what are his risks? They differ greatly from Russia. A heavy causality rate, he can sustain that. What will the world do? Remember, the UN doesn't recognize Taiwan. Hell, the US, and a number of their allies don't formally recognize them. And, I just read about a group of Russians in Tijuana who immigration, from the US, just went and picked up. VAERS doesn't say that. VAERS is simply a data collection which, in itself, doesn't check the many, quite many, varying possibilities for a report. A report to VAERS is mandatory for any one who gets a vaccine and then, some time afterward, time varies, gets sick or injured, or found to have a disease, etc. No cause or effects go to VAERS. Since so many are getting vaccinated, there are lots of reports.

@Barnie2years All feral cats snd any pets that are left outside are killers. Sure, on farms, they mostly eat pests, but bird species have been getting decimated for ever from cats. I am not a cat hater; used to raise cats and think they should be kept indoors. In all countries there are invasive species - the US has its fair share, especially in the South with warmer weather. Even birds can be invasive - starlings, Quaker Parrots, etc.
