We’re right in the middle of the apple growing season here (Feb to May) here, so am keeping the doctor away daily. I can score the fruit at about Can$ 2.80 a kilo, which seems reasonable.
About 65% of the harvest is exported. It seemed that anything grown is sent overseas. At least food security isn’t an issue here. We feed 40 million people apparently.
@Zealandia We're apple country here too & much of our produce is exported to the US. I eat an apple almost everyday, & my favourites are the Ambrosia, Jazz, & Envy.
Our big producer is the Macintosh, but I'm not too fussy on those as they tend to be on the mushy side. If I wanted raw apple sauce, then fine, but I don't.
