Yeah, Jim Beam or Johnnie Walker definitely aren’t your best mates in that situation.
My uncle by marriage was from the Highlands of Scotland. He told me that his ancestors got a windfall by selling land for railway expansion. They squandered it all on whiskey. He signed the pledge, and was a lifelong wowser. Which frankly doesn’t surprise me.
