I have absolutely no respect for local police or sheriff's departments. They are made up of to many people who lack the intelligence or mental makeup to do the job properly. They don't prevent crime, they just try to clean up the mess after a crime. Do we need them, yes, but not the way they seem to be doing their job seemingly everywhere. In Texas I do respect the Department of Public Safety (Highway Patrol). They have higher standards and are well trained.
