Can we quite the “White Privilege” nonsense?

I learned to dive and got my PADI back in 2010, one of the scariest things I have ever done but I felt better for it and love being underwater and enjoyed underwater treasurehunting as a hobby. What would you think if a religious person said they did not believe in magic ?
Surfpirate comments on Jun 22, 2018:
To believe in Religion is to believe in Magic, the Bible is their magic book and it is filled with stories of magical beings doing magical things. Her statement is a contradiction.
Surfpirate replies on Jun 22, 2018:
@mordant It reminds me of the part of the NAMI course I took to help get a better handle on the issue I have with my brother's schizophrenia. They insisted that we should never say that he's schizophrenic but rather that he has schizophrenia as though that would make all the difference in the world, I say it is both because he has an illness and it defines him. The irony is that a classic symptom of schizophrenia is that the person with the illness believes there is nothing wrong with them, it's the rest of us who are crazy. We all have weights we have to bear, I just don't think that candy coating them makes them any easier to bear but that's me, to each their own but I do take exception to people who feel the weight is easier to bear if it isn't candy coated. That's not an arrogant position but a realistic one, delusions, everybody's got some. Have a great day and I hope things work out for you, your way.

Surfpirate replies on Jun 22, 2018:
@mordant I get what you are saying, I just don't see why organized and socially sanctioned madness should be more acceptable than diagnosed mental illnesses which are outside the norm. My younger brother has schizophrenia as did his wife who shot herself in the head with her rifle 3 years ago, guess who flew across the country and bailed him out of that terrible situation before he followed her in the same manner? After I moved him back with me and helped him get reestablished the voices took exception to my helping him and making him feel weak and dependent so he tried to kill me. We haven't had much contact since then. I prefer to call things as I see them instead of dancing around the issue with a bunch of politically correct jargon, see a problem, address it is my preferred approach, anything less tends to be enabling. Religious people believe in a sky daddy with a zombie son who will save those who subjugate themselves to him and torture for eternity those who refuse to bend a knee. How exactly is that different from the space aliens on their intergalactic council who have pressed my younger brother into service on alien worlds to fight their cosmic battles against their enemies? It isn't any different except that one is socially acceptable and one isn't - both are equally dangerous as history has clearly shown. If you find that arrogant and offensive then guess what? I'm good with that because it isn't my limitation it's yours - stop enabling.

isn't he hiding out to escape an arrest for rape? and wikileaks, on twitter, at least, is a Trump and right-wing propaganda outlet. Assange can fuck off.
Surfpirate replies on Jun 20, 2018:
@FreethoughtKaty I've been following the case since he was first under house arrest. It's been 7 years and all that Sweden had to do was go to London and question him but they refused to, the first investigation determined that there were no grounds for charges, it was only later that demands for questioning arose when the US wanted to get there hands on him. There is a great deal written about Assange, most of it bullshit but the facts stand. No charges laid, nothing but numerous attempts to extradite Assange to the States, even the UN found in Assanges favour. Bill Cosby is another case entirely, popular and well loved he was a sexual predator but people refused to believe it because the idolized him. Assange was never well loved, he exposed the worst of the powerful people of the world who are used to getting away with murder, no Assange was not idolized even his fellow journalists turned their backs on him because he showed them up to be the political panderers that journalists have become.

Surfpirate replies on Jun 20, 2018:
Actually Julian Assange is not hiding out to escape arrest for rape. There was a trumped up demand brought by Sweden in an attempt to get Assange extradited so he could be sent on to the Americans. Even the woman involved in the sexual incident did not say there had been a rape, the sex was consensual but a condom wasn't used and she wanted him to have a test for STD's that's it, the politicians used this as an excuse to try and have him extradited for questioning, no charges were laid because their was no crime and the whole matter was dropped because the Swedes refused to question him in England which would been perfectly normal unless they really only wanted to get him on Swedish soil so they could extradite him to the US. The British government is still planning to arrest Assange even though he was never charged or questioned because they too will extradite him to the US on espionage charges. The press has been very helpful in promoting the rape story even though it never happened but it is an excellent way to slander one of the few real journalists left.

@balance_point Your pants are on fire and you don't even realize it. I don't know who you voted for because what happens in the ballot box is your business alone albeit I can imagine why a person wouldn't want to admit to having voted for this train wreck of a president. What I do see is a man who says he hates Trump but supports Trump's policies. You say you don't mind illegal immigration for menial jobs that are beneath an American (do they have to be white Americans or does any American count?) but not for jobs they are qualified to do which an American might consider doing at the right price. I am a master builder who has built everything from starter homes to 5 star hotels and I can tell you it is pretty difficult getting anyone to come out and do physical work these days, illegal or otherwise. Usually I get people who have done time for minor drug offenses and learned a trade in jail. I pay above the going rate and still can't find qualified people so where are these Americans who would love a good paying job hiding? Your comparison of a child taken from their parents and put in a cage (including those legally seeking asylum) with a child at home who has a parent in jail is a non starter but if it makes you feel more human, then you do what works for you. Sounds more like a confused bigot who feels they can hide behind who they say they voted for. Check your own pants, your white privilege is showing.

There was a backlash against fathers who didn't step up for their kids back in the 80's and 90's, as my lawyer put it 'I was getting divorced at a time in history when it was the worst time to be a white male getting a divorce'; he advised me to move to Brazil, change my name and forget I ever had 3 kids because I would never see them again. He was right, I haven't seen my children but once in 24 years but the cheque still goes out each month, I only hope that some of it trickles down to them but I doubt it.

@BucketlistBob If I recall correctly your US Constitution only mentions religion twice. Once to make clear that no religious requirement will ever be imposed upon anyone holding office. and the second is in the 1st Amendment that first say that no religion will ever be prescribed by the government but also that the government will not attempt to pass laws over religions, so the separation of church and state. Religion is supposed to stay out of politics and they aren't doing that, so that means government should have the right to involve itself with religion and control it. Turn around is fair play.
