An unarmed man was shot by San Antonio police as he stood with hands up, no shirt, not moving. About...
Freedompath comments on Mar 27, 2018:
This is heartbreaking to me! But, it is common place now a days! Officers, don't even take a moment to assess the situation, before they shoot to KILL! I believe they are trained to do this, because they are also told, you are in the right, so the law is always in your favor! People should not choose a profession that they are deathly afraid in...all the time!! That is insane and cost innocent people to die, for no reason, other than an officer wants to kill, over his own fear! this part of society cares little about the person killed or the anguish brought to that person's family and friends OR even 'society at large!' Because, I can say without hesitation...it grieves me, everytime I hear that a person has been shot dead by accident or on purpose and especially by police officers! It seems like people are being hunted like 'mad dogs!' There is no humanity in that...when did we start (from barbarian times), again to treat people as out of control and mad...as in a raging animal, because they exhibit normal anxiety of their own, when cornered like an animal? It simply does not add up! What can we expect when a part of our social order is promoted to wipe out another part of our social order...simple because they are not trained for any other recourse...and they could be!
Medical Marijuana and Gun Laws Collide | Fortune
Freedompath comments on Mar 27, 2018:
I think that I am on the fence with this law. There are certain perscribed psychoic medication that I believe would fall under this law. My position is, if you need drugs for medical reasons, your brain could be altered so as to effect your perspective and nervous reactions. Having a gun, under these conditions is not in the best interest of that person. And, why is the ownership of a gun, the first thought in protecting one's self? In my 78 years of much pain and suffering have I ever concluded that a gun would be my best protection! That covers driving long distance in the middle of the night for work and other activities! That covers being beaten by an alcoholic madman husband on many occasions and having to run for my life! No, I don't agree that a gun is needed to protect ourself under all conditions!
Republicans Impeach Judges Who Blocked Their Gerrymandering What happened to the rule of law? ...
Freedompath comments on Mar 27, 2018:
Republicans do not know when to give up...they would "beat a dead horse!' They don't know the meaning of 'sharing power!' This new type of GOP, really has done great harm, to our government order and there seems to be no change in sight! I just keep believing that the pendelum will soon swing back from their hate filled ideas!
Are you superstitious?
Freedompath comments on Mar 27, 2018:
I am not superstitious, but I do believe in luck! When I have experienced this kind of situation, especially accidents...the first thing I wonder is, where did I go wrong? Where was my attention at the time of the accident? What was I doing at the time, that increased my risk of an accident? After that I would move passed it, asap! I do believe there are things that happen, from sheer luck! That makes it even more urgent that we evaluate to see where we dropped our attention, (even slightly for the situation).
How long will you repeat behaivor before you change it?
Freedompath comments on Mar 27, 2018:
Behavior is usually repeated until you find the underlying reason for it...the pay off of some kind! Then you need to replace it with something you 'know' to be more useful! It may have been useful to you, once-upon-a-time!
I grew up in a mennonite sect that practices a form of "shunning" to members that have left the ...
Freedompath comments on Mar 27, 2018:
I have seen that reported in documentaries! I think it is beyond sad, when people place their religion above their own blood (kind). There is no freedom to 'be'...in any of that behavior! In essence they say...'if you follow my rules and laws, then you will be ACCEPTABLE! This is not a one time error, that a person might make...they throw (shun) you out forever! There is something just plain inhumane in that practice and sooner than later, I would be staying away from them! Every human being has the right to live with acceptance and support out in the open...for all to see! Not accepted part ways...that is crazy making!
Which is the more disturbing, Russian politics or Islamic fundamentalism
Freedompath comments on Mar 27, 2018:
I think I would have to go with Russians! They are smart and know how to use their intelligence for harm in the very cleverest and ugliest ways...with no regret! I do not trust Russians...Islam fundamentialism has a lot of ignorance in it, and some sects do blow themselves up for the cause! But, they don't routinely undermine countries and poison people as the Russians oligarchs do and then play victims when confronted! Then promote that victimization to their fellow citizens!
I recently watched a documentary regarding (in this instance) American men choosing to marry ...
Freedompath comments on Mar 26, 2018:
Men, who marry a mail order bride, may secretly not want a woman to know them, very deeply? I agree, that if foreigners become attracted to each other, that has the possibility of a real relationship. But, this mail order bride thing, just seems to be too much of an imbalance of power. Free sex, cannot by itself...evolve the personality of an individual and that is what relationships...based on mutual respect can do for us. Food and shelter for sex, is not my idea of mutual respect or even balanced! Reminds me too much of the missionaries who bring help to the poor...in exchange for 'saving their soul!' Seems fishy, to me!

I believe that I would condition myself, by keeping my personal beliefs...personal... unless you are ask. I liked your responce about 'separation of church and state.' You did not sell yourself out and yet you did not reveal, 'your all.' I doubt that you would find the perfect teaching environment for your nature, so the next best thing is to protect your 'inner nature.' You are there to perform a service, a professional...you are not there to convince anyone of your personal worth or beliefs! Your beliefs should support you in being an upright person, and that right is not given to you by any other person! That is what this country stands for, even as it appears strained at the moment!

Christians always seem to test 'god,' to try an prove his existence to others and themselves! That alone may be a sign they 'really' don't believe! If there was a 'god,' I can't believe he would be compelled to answer the call of one desperate mortal in all the universe! If he did answer all the calls of mortals, I suspect that most people would still be alive, today and in perfect health!

How to fall in love
Freedompath comments on Mar 22, 2018:
I did not read article, but finding love may have a lot to do with social conditioning! We are fed this romantic...out of this world love that is going to hit us like a lightening bolt and give us unimaginable pleasure and happiness! And, somewhere we get a whiff of that 'smoke bomb' and off we go...blinded by the smoke, until it disapates and we find our selves with another human being and with the same frame of mind, before the intoxication (wanting more high)! What happened to the uphoria? Now that 'love' is just mundane, with a few 'sparks' here and there! And, on top of that...comes even more work if you stay with that love! Maybe this is why relationships are temporary or fleeting?
My spouse is a gambeling addict. It causes so much stress in our home. Is anyone else dealing with ...
Freedompath comments on Mar 22, 2018:
You sure have a heavy challenge ahead of you! If you really love this person, I would suggest that you get help for yourself, first! You need to be at your best, to deal with this delima even if you must leave the relationship! Long range stress surrounding your financial security, will truely break you down! So you need to know if your husband will get help or save himself, alone (with your support)! Your husband has a disorder and you did not cause it! He must get to the root of the problem and I would hope show some willingness to do that, otherwise 'he will bring down the house,' both literally and figureatively!

Do you as an atheist feel more intelligent than believers?
Freedompath comments on Mar 22, 2018:
I feel that I have the same intelligent capacity that I have always had and half of my 78 years were spent in the Christian religions. I do see that I may have become wiser, because I have paid attention and applied myself to books and other study! I can see where I would have a restricted view point, if I had kept myself bound inside a religion! They just keep studying the same old things (over and over) that starts out in their scriptures! They memorize certain scripure verses to use to defend themselves with! They stress the parts that scare the hell out a person, instead of what it takes to improve your character by word and deed! People seem so conflicted between good and evil, they can't live a fully human life!
Alternative Lifestyles
Freedompath comments on Mar 22, 2018:
I have never been interested in alternative life styles and the people who 'went down the rabbit holes' in my (tomorrow bd 78 yrs) years, have not turned out well! Life is not a one night stand and from my perch...a life is built of respect and high standards of conduct. Even what we do behind closed doors, can erode or support our own self-respect! In the end that is all that we own that is truely ours and it is what we end up with...when we die!

I must admit that I am ignorant, as to what those Bible verses means? My interpretation seems to be...that proud women, will get put in their place! They are not approved of! This is precisely why I stopped reading the Bible...the same as I don't expose myself to porn and hate speech! All of it seems to come from a period of time, when certain people wallowed in a kind of insanity! I can't see usefulness toward my better nature, in any of that stuff!

Freedompath comments on Mar 21, 2018:
Yes, I was fully aware of this and I have always been deeply concerned! They have put their money behind it, just like in the past when we were ask (when i was in the church), to give special offerings to 'missions!' They, never give up on trying to convert people, to their way of thinking, (like we should all be clones)! It wouldn't bother me all that much, if they didn't intend to force their will and COMPLETE beliefs on every one...and that would include me! That DOES, get my 'dander up!'
Will future historians will record the current US government as filled with thieves who ran the most...
Freedompath comments on Mar 21, 2018:
Academic historians, hopefully will try and report the facts based with reasonable/logical assertions. But, they are not the only authors that write...including historical accounts! A person can write from a twisted mind, sometimes as well as the academic mind. Bill O'Reilly, and "Killing Lincoln' comes to mind! I have not read his book, but it was slammed by academia! And, because I have witnessed how his mind works, I do not trust his judgement and further suspect his motives for writing the book in the first place! So I would be sceptical about what is written and by whom! I fear for people in the future, that picks up a book based on the current history...it could be slanted, depending on how creditable the author is!
Aha! I'm straight but are these christians serious?
Freedompath comments on Mar 21, 2018:
Perfect comparison for the religious people, ...on the one hand..but not so much on the other hand, as being gay is an 'act of nature!' Should we not accommodate ourselves to nature? On the other hand...must we accommodate ourselves to everyone's religious beliefs? I can abide with that idea, as long as they do not attempt to force their 'ways' on me! What gets more complicated here is knowing that the religious people base their behaving in the real world on what their particular religion teaches them! What may be nature to me, may need stamping out and shaming...from a certain religious person's perspective...based on his/her indoctrination! So, when you dig deeper into this comparison, it is far more complicated!

Freedompath comments on Mar 20, 2018:
When someone uses any "teaching" to improve their character, wouldn't that be a good thing? But, when any teaching hinders the natural growth of a person's nature, that would be considered harmful. When a person relies on any one resource for all "truth," how will that support that person to his highest nature? When we cannot make decisions without consulting our pastor, or the prevailing sacred scriptures, maybe we relinquished our power and authority over to others? What if 'they' cannot know all the extenuating circumstances, surrounding a specific problem? And, yet the religious, believe a problem must be solved within the context of their particular religion. Maybe the problem could be more easily solved, if a person has availed him/herself of other knowledge and experience along with their religious teachings. But, religious people seemed to limit themselves to the way their religion has always taught and believed! This is the problem for me. Life is ever evolving, that 'good old time religion' is out of date for me! I can't rely on some 'great man being' up in the sky! And I simply don't view life like others, I want the freedom to believe what makes good sense to me! Even as I search for Universal Truths!

I am not dyslexic, but one of my sons is. And before I knew about it about the second grade, I would try to help him with reading and he could hardly read at all. The next year, it was diagnosed and he was given special training which helped him a lot, but reading has always been a challenge, he has told me. He is now 55 and I can tell you...my ignorance and attitude toward my son, hurts me deeply everytime I must bring it to mind, as in your post! I myself... feel there is an 'energy' that supports all life, I just don't have a name for it, but I completely believe it is there! It is my responsibility to harness that energy and put it to good use! And, I never forget that it can be put to 'evil' use! You do not need to be a carbon copy of your friend, in thought or deed! If you have a common connection to this person, it seems to me that would facilitate the betterment of both of you! If it becomes toxic...you will have to choose, which way you want to go!

Because...if you don't want, what little 'get-up-go' that you still have at this moment to ATROPHY ...you better FORCE yourself...when all else fails! Just imagine what it would be like... to creep around, hoping someone will be handy, if you should fall or need someone to think for you...and you will be more motivated! You don't need to be perfect at excerising, just good enough!
A Bunch of Religious People Think Stephen Hawking Is Currently Burning in Hell – Friendly Atheist
Freedompath comments on Mar 14, 2018:
Those tweets were so judgemental...when THEY don't know for sure, if hell exist! THEY seemed so ignorant, why did THEY condemn a person to hell? THEY, took it upon their selves to speak for the CREATOR, no matter who/what that could be. I think that attitude is what keeps me at a distance from these people and their 'poison' judgement! No human being is more powerful than the 'force,' that created life! Even, if it turns out to be a spark!
Lots of talk today about Stephen Hawking passing. I saw this picture and found it to be very ...

Do you read the bible to get knowledge about it, and to be able to understand why it is fiction?
Freedompath comments on Mar 12, 2018:
I completely stop reading the Bible for any reason, some time ago! I think one of my main reasons was, that I was so sick of a lot of people backing up all their opinions, on some scripture verse! My mother, did that her whole life and I disliked it then, but over time it started to disgust me! I am getting rid of 3 Bibles, in this move. I am keeping a small one, just in case of...who knows what? But, the truth is, I have come to feel somehow sick about the Bible!
Who has struggled with attempting to have a relationship?
Freedompath comments on Mar 12, 2018:
I should add that I have a friend, that was married to an Autistic guy, who passed, a couple of years ago. She has two early 30s, sons...one married last year and the other one is still single. So, just keep looking and find ways to be happy while you are searching, for 'that' person. Good luck! My friend was a special ed teacher and just published a book, on Autism! You must keep working toward your goal, even when it is hard and disappointing. That is what my friend, would say, too! (PS: both sons are Autisic!)

Why marrying too young can be bad for your emotional health - Calgary - CBC News
Freedompath comments on Mar 12, 2018:
From my personal experience, I would say so. I have not known a lot of people who got married at 15, but it was a bad idea, even though I ran away and lied about my age. A 15 year old still needs their parents and a 19 year old male is hardly prepared to be a father to a 15 yr old, girl! The marriage lasted 17 years, and did allow me to escape a dismal home life. But, here late in my life, I seem to be more emotionally balanced, than my peers or family members (at least the ones that are still in this world). Maybe, I could have accomplished more with higher education? At least, I believe in...the value that I am contributing to life now.

That piece is almost bogus, other than it is someone's opinion. Newsmax owner, is a friend and adviser to trump. I wouldn't call them 'fake news,' but I don't trust them either! They may be running out of 'groups of people,' to condemn. How easy it is, to hold up to redicule ...a group of people that aren't even 'groupies' and most people want know many non-believers! Nevertheless, if the people on this site, are a cross section of non-believers...I would say they are as happy as any single group. And, what is better, they have comtemplative ideas on things surrounding their life. That should help any of us, find some happiness in life, if we keep up the search!

Unless you are in charge of this celebration, I would just come as you are...to what ever place the people in charge have arranged! There is no more need to prove to any of them... your worth and acceptance than if you were Catholic, a Muslim or any other religion, really! Non-believers may be the minority...but we still have the same value as any other human being has on this earth. So you can show up and be thankful to that grandmother...because, 'by hook or by crook'... she gave you some useful DNA, that help give your life more meaning! The rest of your clan, can do the same thing!

How reliable is the study of history?
Freedompath comments on Mar 12, 2018:
I don't consider the Bible, history in the literal, sense. To many unveriable voices. It is the story of "man's" search for meaning and a God. Just an account of a time period and stories handed down from one generation to the next thru oral stories. Even in modern history, you will get different accounting on the same historical event from different people. I would not say they lie, but they will have different perspectives. Even different people who write biographies on the same person, show different angles of that person. And now, in this new 'fake news,' era...I would be sceptical of a lot of modern historical writers, because I can't trust that they are reporting facts, or slanting the truth to promote some personal agenda or bias. I think it is fashionable now, to spout embellished narratives...I am more sceptical than ever and it has caused me to wonder about all the historical reportings in the past? Did those people slant events and issues around their personal biases and how does one sort that out?

It has been a very gloomy birthday. Both weatherwise and in sentiment. I ponder the meaning of life...
Freedompath comments on Mar 10, 2018:
First, I would like to say, you need some kind words today...the birthday may not matter all that much as a day, but your loneliness does. Your picture tells me, that you want to matter to others (and you do), but the most important person that you need to matter to, is yourself! I read your profile, you have interest and dreams, so take matters in your capable hands and make something happen for just you, at this moment! You need some tender loving care for yourself. Then, you can get out with other people and put more adventure into your life. It sounds like you might have a little depression going on? If so, get some walking in...at least 40-50mins.each day. Get out and claim your spot in this life and give to it...what only you have to offer. 'Life is a journey, not a destination.' So where are you in your journey? I care...
Why is depression so complicated?
Freedompath comments on Mar 10, 2018:
Well, part of depression is just the human condition. We are living longer and things change in our brain and our bodies. One thing, that does help depression, is excerise and sunlight. Maintaining a schedule and good diet, is important. And, in certain situations of chronic depression, medication may be necessary. But, the one thing that I found to help most with my years of depression, is excerise. I went to fitness ctr, 3 times a week and worked on muscle building and within, a few months of starting my excerise program, I observed a shift in my brain function. I am walking at least 40mins and doing stair excerise now and I still have have no depression.

I think he's having second thoughts about the whole celibacy thing! Lol
Freedompath comments on Mar 10, 2018:
This is for sure putting discipline to the test! Is the female testing the man as monk, or mocking the man in his spiritual practice? Or is the whole thing a joke? At any rate, a woman is more than "boobs!" But, this female is appearing to present herself as her "boobs!"
What do you do when your child does something that makes you resentful?
Freedompath comments on Mar 10, 2018:
I had another thought...you may feel very vulnerable over this situation, like you lost control and could not change it or go back...if so, just know that there will be lots of situations, that will be out of your control and all that you can do is, 'take the bull by the horns'...and try and solve the problem to the best of your ability! That is all anyone can do.
What do you do when your child does something that makes you resentful?
Freedompath comments on Mar 10, 2018:
I surely want to tackle this problem with you. I have 5 children...all 54-62. Now, you have every right to be crushed! Having to struggle for money is no picnic, I have done that most of my life, too! You must mend your disappointed heart and get back to being a father. But, you must remember your child is still just that...he is not a wise person yet! If he has indeed lied, it seems that you and your ex, need to figure out a reasonable punishment for those actions, something suitable to his age. And then, treat your son with all the love and respect that you can muster. Don't lay on your son the burden of his guilt, for a long period of time! This will not help him to be more forthcoming in the future. If your son is old enough, you might report(calmly) to him, what it cost you, when he failed to tell the truth. After that, Praise him, when he does the right thing and show him, in many different ways that you love him. You may need to enlist the help from a counselor, because your child may be going thru more than you know about. What ever you do, you must get your own equallibrium back, because your child may start to believe that his own father does not love him and worse that he does not deserve to be loved. No child should think he is not worthy of his own father's love. I have had lots of these kinds of things happen with my children over the years and I had 5 of them! And, I can say it was always hard to gather myself up and do what is right for my child, but I managed to do it.(not perfectly)...parenting is hard work, but the work must be done, because we cannot go back and do it over, if we fail! I surely feel for you...good luck.

'If you confess on the name of Jesus'...it's that confessing that is more important than...if God loves us, knows us, forgive us, unconditionally! Isn't that what the 'Almighty God' would do, according to Scriptures? At least in some of the passages! I am sorry to hear, that at a very important time, you and your brother, 'were not on the same page.'

Freedompath comments on Mar 9, 2018:
I mainly wanted to welcome you here...your concern is not something that I have experienced, even with friends. Now, over time one partner grew into a different belief, but no one sprung it on their partner, suddenly! You know your wife better than anyone, so I think that you will need to start informing her in increments...or just sit down with her and explain, how you feel and what you believe. Hopefully, you can reassure her, that she is free to believe what she wants to, regardless.
Why do people hate very nice people like atheists?
Freedompath comments on Mar 9, 2018:
If they don't have knowledge of what it means, to be a non-believing person...they are simply fearful of the unknown! As a mtater of fact, most humans are fearful of the unknown of anything, to a more or lessor degree!
Moment of Silence or Saying Grace
Freedompath comments on Mar 9, 2018:
I once was that person who took part in the 'thanks' at meal times. But, then i felt that i had become one with 'the whole,' and was in a state of thankfullness from that time on! After that it made no sense to me. Plus, I believe it is said, as some kind of 'show'...proof to others that 'they' love the Lord, or that they are 'righteous' people, maybe above reproach!?
