Just wanted to know if anyone else out there is having difficulty meeting like minded people?

I want to relay an experience a friend has. Her husband died 3 years back and she was determine to find another partner and I have never met anyone more determined. It seemed more like a business to me. She had certain criteria ie, no trump supporter #1 and other specific things. She went through 100s, of short meetings and she ended up in a couple of good relationship that didn't last (and got hurt a little bit). But, she kept up her search and the last time I checked in, she was having so much fun dating, that she wasn't sure she wanted to get married, again!! Now, I may not want to work that hard, but it may take that much work! She is a wonderful friend and I am sure that every body is having as much fun with her as I have! If you make it a fun thing, it looks like you win, no matter how it turns out! Good luck...

Yes, I too noticed that, but we must not forget that new members may have the same questions? I have no idea how to handle that? If I see a duplicate on ideas, I just pass on by, and then on the other hand it looks like I repeat a few ideas...but I address them in a different way! Now, I have never been someone, that repeated anything twice (can be a bit of a problem in perfecting something). I guess, it it became too boring for people, they would just drop off...I'm not there yet!

I have similar dynamics in my family, people that I wished to be a part of their life! But, some of them are so conditioned to reject new information, they refuse to even share my company! When you 'waste' a great number of years, trying to prove (by example) that you are not some evil entity, so they will 'share' with you...you throw in the towel and teach/share with yourself...what you believe that it takes to be a decent human being! Free at last! Free at last! Is my assessment! You might read, 'The Authoritarians' by Bob Altemeyer...(and maybe you already know of this work) sometimes we must face our limitations, even in the such of 'sharing' and love!

The anxiety, block my retention, so then I felt like a 'dummy'...which compounded the problem with learning math! Do relaxation before hard classes, it does help! Best of luck

The scenario that you described would not fall under 'sexual harassment,' to me. Maybe poor timing or bad taste, but that is not a power play, not if is expressed in a clear cut, question! I would not 'judge' you so harshly...mainly because, I once stood in your footsteps! Without, experience, I know of few people who made a lot of progress in their spiritual/emotional/intellectual growth! This is not something that we get from textbooks! Sure, once-up-on-a-time, harsh words stung me deeply! But, as I grew, I understood the reasons behind them, and I try to allow another person to 'come from his real' position. That is where we all need to correct ourself...from! And, I don't think that I would 'write it in stone'...that you 'would never do it again.' You may not need to be perfect, on the forum! Even a large group of average citizens want have that kind of clout! I write a letter almost every week to Senator Perdue, because he is only working for some kind of appointment from Trump. If I could do my parenting over...I doubt that I would say that to any of my children. I would ask, what kind of work would you choose, when you are grown up? And, I would be on the look out for their natural talents! And once that was revealed, I would help them understand what it takes to prepare themselves for that occupation. 'Being anything,' has an unending connotation to it. No one has that many talents that could be developed! And, if you were conditioned by that idea, you might never nail down your life's work! Your choices would be endless! It might only be a psychic thing, but wouldn't that be a hendrence?

Parents! How do you deal with grandparents who try to influence your children with religion?

Most things children experience is brought out into the open. If you have allowed them to freely express themselves, they will reveal things that grandparents and even strangers say or do to them. At least most of the time. That is when to confidently explain your position and even find out what the child thinks? We never want a child to feel powerless, even if we want to stir them in another direction. Grandparents ...even the ignorant and the religious ones, love their grandchildren. And it is work, staying vigilant under these circumstances, but it is less stressful than being in a 'battle,' to correct the grandparents, if you keep any kind of relationship with them. However, if there is physical or verbal abuse, that requires another set of rules (not covered here). Children do seem to (on the whole), know what is good and what is not good. And, it has been my experience, if you have provided children a loving and secure place to grow in...even the errored ways of a grandparent, does little damadge. Children can be taught to trust their feelings about what is 'bad' or what is untrue and avoid them or to tell someone. Children are resilient, but less stress does allow them to grow (brain and nervous system) without so much anxiety (about relationships)! And, my last thought would be to try and schedule fun things when visiting with grandparents, not much harm can attach itself to any of us, when we are having fun!

It does seems that some children are more malleable than others, but still...they would behave according to what they were exposured to. It is not possible, to bring sanity to insane remarks... in an off the cuff discussion. (Even I need to focus!) That person must 'save face' in a group and may not drop his guard even in one on one! This other person will just 'up the anti!' Their objective is to protect what they believe. They are not there, to debate 'truth,' they already have 'the truth.' Be on the look out, for things in his nature, that are humane, so that when you are 'hung up' on some issue with him, at least you will have that in your own mind. And you may even be able to use it...which will lower the intensity of the moment. That is about all that can take place with 'these personalities.' This is work and this is the reason most of us, must keep our "respectful' distance! Prepare yourself, before the incidents take place...you will less likely to be caught off guard! If it takes years for professionals to help this type personality see how unproductive his ideas and behavior is, where do you think that leaves us? I must admit that at the beginning, I was a bit mystified as to why you posted your Kevorkian case...as example to teach us something about sucuide. But after reading ALL the posts...I came to the realization of WHY our justice system is not fair and just. Without, your honest and candid responses, this would not have revealed itself. You have expert skills in where/how to find the law that covers the unlawful charge. It appears you are skilled in applying 'that law' (as with Kevorkian). However, you became an untrained expert on your 'subject', even down to analyzing certain drawings by Kevorkian and his behavior towards a patient's time of death and guessing on people's motives (I.e. woman who was 'tired of caring for her husband'). But, in all your responces...you lacked WISDOM about 'sucuide,' much less on 'death and dying.' Where was your life experiences? Even when prompted...you recited 'codes' and 'laws' and 'regulations!' What kind of a world would we have, if everyone lived their life in a bubble like that? If you noticed it was pointed out, that your position was '10 against...to 01!' So NOW, I understand why district attorneys want concede even when more evidence is brought to light and sometimes even when 'scientific' DNA is presented! You developed great skills to read and apply the 'rule of law,' when people break the law. But somewhere you must have blocked out what it takes to obtain wisdom! Because, I never found a thing that was WISE, in your post! I believe this is the reason you received so much flack! If this sounds like I am 'beating up' on you, I AM NOT! In time your heart will heal and your son will just become a part of your nature. I lost another friend over the holidays, myself. What you might do, and what another person might do, under the same circumstances just might be altogether different! I have never met two people who behaved the same way about hardly anything. That being said, I am also wondering why this issue with Kevorkian is coming up for you so many years later? And, it would seem by your writings that you would handle the Kevorkian issue the same way that you did, back in the day. Yes...YOU know the law...or laws! But, it has been my experience that as my life has progressed over 50 of my last 78 years...that as i took in more information, it altered my ideas to the point, that my position today no where even resembles how I once understood certain issues...not even 25 years ago. I also may be 'a law abiding citizen' but I would not hesitate to break a law if it made no sense, for a particular moment! I don't make my own laws...neither will I follow 'laws' in blind faith...and I will take responsibility for my actions! I might hold myself to a higher moral code than the average person. Yes, my daughter married her ex-2 times. It did not last! Why? That would be complicated to answer. I would say, she might know now after being married for 28 yrs to another man...but, we haven't brought it up in years! I kept trying to return to my ex, off and on for 5 (wasted) years. I now believe, that you can't go back! At least it is rare...

Yes, my daughter married her ex-2 times. It did not last! Why? That would be complicated to answer. I would say, she might know now after being married for 28 yrs to another man...but, we haven't brought it up in years! I kept trying to return to my ex, off and on for 5 (wasted) years. I now believe, that you can't go back! At least it is rare...

Sir, you may have lots of facts, but it appears you could have a 'blind spot?' You reported that a man's mask was removed, to calm the man down...but you did not report that the man HIMSELF said 'stop' or 'proceed!' And, you added as if you were privy...'wife'...'she wanted him dead, because she was tired of taking care of him NO DOUBT(capital letters mone)!' Was, this a fact or assumption on your part? Sounds like mindreading to me! Maybe I am way out here in SOME field on this, but you tell your side as if you were there, 'like a fly on the wall,' reporting back to us! You make so many assumptions that it causes me to question your reasoning! With my type of personality, I would not allow my doctor to be consulted, if I decided to commit suicide. Who is he/she to block my free will? And, I might have already discussed it with my doctor...not to support me in dying...but support for me as a person!
...'pushing the medical profession to work on pain treatments,' ...'and not sentencing people to death'...shows a lack of knowledge on the nature of pain! 'They' developed pain treatments and we have thousands of people dying each day, from their pain treatment! Where have you been hiding out, all this time? And, let me add here, that this Country by law, has put people to death in...I believe every state in this country!! So is it 'putting people to death' that bothers you or are you on some kind of 'late life' campagn to 'justify' your position in the Kevorkian case? In my opinion, we should have the right to die when we choose. If a person should be in some delusional state, then, very attempt should be made to bring that person around. It is not the person that chooses to exit, that may be having the difficulty. It is the 'other' people who must face the loss and sadness (psychic pain and a challege to a person's belief system) that would take place around this 'life or death' event. Can you say for certain that Kevorkian was obsessed with death or was he attempting to shock 'the senses' into facing another reality? Each person has so many 'sides'...were you witness to all of Kevorkian's, traits? Sometimes, different personality traits, only show up in, out of the way settings. I say this, because it seems that different people perceive me differently and even then...differently, in different settings. And on close examination, I believe that I am not the same with all people. I never had a personal experience with Kevorkian, but i did follow him and his his ideas on assisted sucuide. But, I never believed that he was obsessed with death. From a distance, it appeared that he wanted to assist in releasing another human from his pain/misery. Could he have been more in 'tune' with the pain that some people find themselves in? There was a time that I experienced a 'living hell,' from physical and mental pain. And likely, others have had it much worse. Could his actions have come from the 'obsessed' notion of relieving pain? I have seen documenories, on assisted sucuide, (with Kevorkian, too) for patients with terminal illnesses, after their condition had progressed into unbearable pain. There are assisted suicides, covertly carried out, today, for this very reason. But, much exploring has taken place before making this decision, (which I recall with Kevorkian). No more Sunday Church gatherings, choir practice and all the other activities that take place there...no set aside time that you decaded just for the "Lord." If you leave overnight, I can believe it is similar to 'culture shock!" I came away gradually, so it was a little easier, but not by much! Seeing people on their way to church, still taps a kind of longing...but not for the indoctrination, it is the sense of community. Plus, that deepest of all ideas, that I was doing something for the Lord, by presenting myself at Church, was hard to drop. But, with time and searching to know what you really 'believe in', eventually you come to terms with what you believe and make a new life, that fits better than the old one. At least that is what I found...I am more authentic now.

We wonder and contemplate and struggle with current issues! Certain political issues are heightened at the moment and we are 'expressing'. I believe your frustration is warrented. But, there are several reasons that people don't write well. For one, typing on our phone is not perfect and auto-check on certain phones can add letters or even change a word. Sometimes, we hit 'something' in error and it went out before we could correct it. Then there are the people who have not done a lot of writing and their writing comes off as crude. But, I believe everyone has a 'story' and I want to honor that. Sure, I struggle, but once upon a time, people struggled for me and I am grateful. In my particular area of Ga...I rarely hear anyone say they are in therapy. I had many years of psychological therapy, due to depression. I am mostly free of depression now. My religious upbringing may have been a big factor in my depression. The evangelicals and a lot of religious people use their religion as their therapy. But, it did not fit me. It took a lot of therapy to weed out the damage that it created in my nature.

I submit to you that it is mainly 'technology!' But, it brought with it a double edge sword! And, it could hold equal values, good and bad! Some of us may have a greater need, for basic human needs and have difficulty obsorbing so much technology! We simply can't find enough ways to use it in our life, without giving up too much of our 'self!'. It seems more like our society, depends on the 'monetory' value in everything, including with that technology! That is sure how I feel. It seems humans are only needed to promote technology! RO

I realize the office of our President deserves respect, but I CANNOT respect trump! Not now, not ever...not as long as he behaves beneath the office of THE PRESIDENT of the United States! I will regard him as a human being and do not wish him 'ill will'...but do not ask or force me to respect someone for whom I can find...not one reason to do so! That would be insane!

I do not believe your being an atheist has much to do with your feelings of aloneness at this holiday time. We are basically alone inside ourselves. And it seems most pronounced during these holidays! No one else will ever go deep within us as that is impossible! But, once that is acknowledged, we realize that it is not a flaw and can get on with doing more to simply interact with others that will give us our place in this world full of 'others!' Some of which are really enjoying themselves!! Sometimes, that is the best that can happen...at these times! I have had many of these bad holiday 'times!' Here at nearly 78 years old...and with that life long experience, I whole hardedly agree with your post! There is not enough space to write my wide range of good and bad experiences...of my lifetime! All I can say, is...I was awake! What about the people coming behind (us) me? What will they find in the future for this society? Will they need to pick up the tab for past generations? It hurts me, to think about what this 'tax scam'...outcome could be? Will the 1% take their loot to some island and stay there? OR, will the 'lessor folks', become slaves of a sort? I simply see America...as way out of balance! Who can really say what the final outcomes will look like! But, 'greed' has taken on a whole new meaning!! Ruth O'Kelley
