The change that needs to happen, is that the rejection of science should be legal grounds for not hiring someone. If someone follows the instructions of the gnome in their garden, we can refuse to hire them for that, but if instead it is the man in the sky, they get a free pass. That is not right.

However, I would also point out that in this day and age, with widely available contraception for both the male and the female, in the west at least there is no excuse for unwanted pregnancies.
When they do occur the blame falls squarely on the parents, both of them, as does the consequent responsibility.
When religion interferes with the use of contraception, family planning and support, the male and female parent should ignore religion in favour of responsible behaviour.
Should either potential parent refuse to do so, the other partner should simply refuse to participate or accept responsibility.

This would have led to a stalemate, with NI and Scotland voting remain Wales being too close to call and England voting leave. However Cameron insisted on counting the votes of all 4 together resulting in a tiny minority winning on the leave side.
17,410,742 votes to leave and 16,141,241 to remain, a margin of 1,269,501 votes, out of a total population of 66,000,000.
I do not call that democracy or even a pretence at it.

@altschmerz What amazes me is that under UK law this man was allowed to be a teacher of religious education, but had he been a Roman catholic he would have been barred from the profession in state schools, as it is illegal for "papists" to teach religious education, because it will corrupt children.

@altschmerz Unusually she actually and sincerely believed what she was teaching, so a genuine paradox for her was genuinely upsetting. She took a leave of absence for a while, the rumour was that she suffered a breakdown. She was replaced by a red haired and bearded Presbyterian Scott called Mr. McLeod, a name he pronounced MuClued! only person I ever met who could speak an exclamation mark.
