We might be where other advanced countries are in minimizing the pandemic, but Trump is maximizing it instead. We certainly want to understand why people will willingly give up reality for fantastical notions and coded expressions of hatred. In their hatred they are tempted toward aggression and violence. Republicans are mostly incapable of contrition or forgiveness to the point where reunification would occur.
