They re-asses property values here every 7 years or so in my county. The last 2023 assessment had assessed valuation jump by an average of 17 percent across the board. People were seeing their property tax bills increase by thousands of dollars. This year, some of the millage increase related to the bonds we all approved kicked in, which was enough to cause a lot of people to sell because they couldn't afford the increase. I challenged mine because they overstated my square footage and got it lowered a bit, but yeah, with the real estate inflation and re-assessments, it's a tight squeeze for a lot of folks. To be fair, they do a good job delivering the services you'd expect, but yeesh, rents are doubling in some cases, kicking a lot of fixed income folks to the curb.

Or don't buy one just take one. That's what I do.
