Many of the roads they built go to empty cities that were never occupied they just built them in the middle of nowhere and couldn't find people to live in them. All this received financing from the Chinese government owned banking system... It also is a part of their GDP. This along with subsiding shipping for exporters has strained their resources and some of the countries that were promised help building their infrastructure are "seeing it blown away like dust in the wind..."
