Open the camera, then tap on the lightest/brightest portion of the image; you'll see a "sun' image that you can slide up and down, brightening or darkening the image. Excellent POV by Trevor Noah, and I'm sad that my hero, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, had to defend the commonality of deaths by guns...shame on him. I did find this "apology" by him this morning; Yesterday, a Tweet I posted in reaction to the horrific mass shootings in America over the previous 48 hours, killing 34 people, spawned mixed and highly critical responses. If you missed it, I offered a short list of largely preventable causes of death, along with their average two-day death toll in the United States. They significantly exceeded the death toll from the two days of mass shootings, including the number of people (40) who on average die from handgun homicides every two days. I then noted that we tend to react emotionally to spectacular incidences of death, with the implication that more common causes of death trigger milder responses within us. My intent was to offer objectively true information that might help shape conversations and reactions to preventable ways we die. Where I miscalculated was that I genuinely believed the Tweet would be helpful to anyone trying to save lives in America. What I learned from the range of reactions is that for many people, some information –-my Tweet in particular -- can be true but unhelpful, especially at a time when many people are either still in shock, or trying to heal – or both. So if you are one of those people, I apologize for not knowing in advance what effect my Tweet could have on you. I am therefore thankful for the candor and depth of critical reactions shared in my Twitter feed. As an educator, I personally value knowing with precision and accuracy what reaction anything that I say (or write) will instill in my audience, and I got this one wrong. @JamesUC #1; I'm agnostic; your facts have no source...so they're not taken seriously. #2 I concur with "it's not my place" to tell people about their gun use - but I will still push my congresspeople for more and better control....you obviously don't care. #3. It's not about taking rights away - it's about instilling, and demanding responsibility. Right now there's far too little of that in America. I recommend you re-watch the Trevor Noah video and the one I shared. Perhaps even sharing them to other groups. You're giving unsubstantiated defense for the absurd abuses of guns in America; and frankly to me that's sad and a bit frightening.

It's easy to define; but it's obviously been abused. In terms of our civilization...it's a relatively new thing..... But it is simple; it's what it's called...social - ism. Using society to control and regulate things as a collective thing, rather than an individual or business decision. We've seen how greed and profiteering has made businesses do things that make many in society benefit but few who profit from the business....we've seen the need to regulate and control this greed. That's socialism. We've also seen how government leaders have taken advantage of the programs of socialism. But again...we're learning. I honestly think we're close to getting it right. We know we have to clean up our environment using socialist rules. Letting private companies clean things up hasn't worked - and has lead us to almost runaway global warming. Socialism can end this. We know we have to improve our health care. Letting private companies give us health care has driven health care costs through the roof...and have literally stopped our average life span growth. We need socialist health care system to let us continue to improve our health. In the 1950's we used our 100% socialist education system both elementary, secondary, and even many colleges to become #1 in world learning. Since that time...as private and religious-controlled schools have grown, our ranking in world education has dropped precipitously. With free college (paid for by the socialist process of taxing the wealthy) we would re-claim our ranking in education. I hope we get over the fog and stigma of socialism. I hope my explanations have helped you.

But I refuse to fall in to that category of a quietly frustrated senior who "tolerates" living alone. I've pretty much given up the "pursuit" and just put myself out there (only on here...no "dating" sites...and yes....I'm a home-body most, if not all weekends). I'm working on enjoying my diet, my level of cleanliness, my level of organization. The fitness that suits me. And I stand by what I said, above; if I meet a woman who's "slightly out of my league" I'll wear my best shirts, shine my shoes, and try to impress her... Because, in my heart, and in my mind, I haven't given up "searching for someone who's a bit out of our league". In the meantime... I'm working on continuing to fall in love....with me!!

@UUNJ I haven't discounted them...I keep my eyes out for the "right" woman regardless of age....I was just supporting the OP's POV that in general we "aim higher"...we seek someone who's better than we are so we can grow from the experience. We don't want to seek someone who's a "burden" to us that - might "need" us more than we need them...although that's what we often "settle" for....or at least that's what I used to do...
