Obama got a question from a right-wing-conservative gun-store owner about why Democrats want to ...
DenoPenno comments on Mar 8, 2019:
I think Obama handled that very professionally but even today gun advocates thing it's about taking your guns away. Some people are very ignorant. In the video both the men talking presented themselves very well.
Robecology replies on Mar 9, 2019:
Fair point....gun advocates still think or talk, or write about "taking our guns away." As Obama said in the video "that just isn't so". So please share this video with anyone who still says this?

If you believe the scientists, we need go much farther. If you don't, you probably think it's a waste of . Many scientists think we've already run out of time reverse the effects of climate change. The optimistic ones are saying we might have 12 years do something.
Robecology replies on Mar 9, 2019:
Elon Musk says it this way (paraphrasing) - "we have a choice - ignore the scientists and hope for the best, deal with the suffering as usual and not let it overwhelm us, or pay diligent attention to them, act preemptively but at a cost to society". Google "cost to ignore Climate change" It's that "cost' that's making those who want to ignore scientists push denial. Greed is a profound, yet potentially fatal - yet nearly perfect - addiction. http://robecology.blogspot.com/2016/12/greed-perfect-addiction-and-one-factor.html

@Condor5 Bingo. I've considered myself a fiscal conservative; and was happy to discover a "Conservative Atheist" group. But then I got bad-mouthed and ragged on...and eventually banned and blocked. (I recently was un-banned...but I comment much less frequently on there). I always thought that Scientists were, by nature, conservative. They are super cautious about posting and publicizing theory. But then there's the religious factor. American Conservatism is founded on the god myth....and that explains a lot of the naiveté and ignorance they show us.

@Freedompath Not a great loss; there's a lot of hostility there...but I know that today's conservative isn't the same person as the conservatives from decades ago. They're obviously racist, and unlike the scientific conservatives I know they're anti-science. I'm working to correct that, where I can. Conservatism in its' pure state is a good thing...IMO.

@Gooniesnvrdie I don't think you'll see any violent protests much anymore. There's just no "taste" for it. The French are in to it. The Conservative extremists are hosting their "war games" and "hate groups" and "AntiFa" has shown some taste for "rebellion" but in general...I sense a more sophisticated attitude. A smarter rebellion is happening.

I think you hit on the reason that Mueller and co are taking their time "laying their cards on the table". They don't want too many pockets of rebellion....which....if we have to indict DJT....and go arrest him and take him in to custody.....could occur. Mueller's being super cautious about that; and I think he's a few steps ahead of you...and very cognizant of the danger you bring up.

@powder I'm not clear about your POV. I found and copied this part of the study about diet, crowding, and eating, FYI... ...Eating and other biological activities were thereby transformed into social activities in which the principal satisfaction was interaction with other rats. In the case of eating, this transformation of behavior did not keep the animals from securing adequate nutrition. But the same pathological "togetherness"tended to disrupt the ordered sequences of activity involved in other vital modes of behavior such as the courting of sex partners, the building of nests. and the nursing and care of the young. In the experiments in which the behavioral sink developed, infant mortality ran as high as 96 percent among the most disoriented groups in the population. Even in the absence of the behavioral sink, in the second series of three experiments, infant mortality reached 80 percent among the corresponding members of the experimental populations. This was Calhoun's 1 page summary. The report needs to be purchased from the NSF...sorry. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1501789/pdf/califmed00143-0080.pdf

Robecology replies on Mar 5, 2019:
@WonderWartHog99 Gringos? As in slang word for Non-spanish? Sorry...your demographics are not correct. The religious profile of the world is rapidly changing, driven primarily by differences in fertility rates and the size of youth populations among the world’s major religions, as well as by people switching faiths. Over the next four decades, Christians will remain the largest religious group, but Islam will grow faster than any other major religion. If current trends continue, by 2050 … The number of Muslims will nearly equal the number of Christians around the world. Atheists, agnostics and other people who do not affiliate with any religion – though increasing in countries such as the United States and France – will make up a declining share of the world’s total population. The global Buddhist population will be about the same size it was in 2010, while the Hindu and Jewish populations will be larger than they are today. In Europe, Muslims will make up 10% of the overall population. India will retain a Hindu majority but also will have the largest Muslim population of any country in the world, surpassing Indonesia. In the United States, Christians will decline from more than three-quarters of the population in 2010 to two-thirds in 2050, and Judaism will no longer be the largest non-Christian religion. Muslims will be more numerous in the U.S. than people who identify as Jewish on the basis of religion. Four out of every 10 Christians in the world will live in sub-Saharan Africa. These are among the global religious trends highlighted in new demographic projections by the Pew Research Center. The projections take into account the current size and geographic distribution of the world’s major religions, age differences, fertility and mortality rates, international migration and patterns in conversion. http://www.pewforum.org/2015/04/02/religious-projections-2010-2050/

@Piece2YourPuzzle Of course Sanders supports capitalism. He just wants regulations in place to stop the polluters, and those who would abuse their clientele or sources. “It’s not socialism, it’s social democracy, which is a big difference,” said Mike Konczal, an economic policy expert at the left-wing Roosevelt Institute. Social democracy, Mr. Konczal noted, “implies a very active role for capitalism in the framework.” https://www.nytimes.com/2015/10/20/upshot/bernie-sanders-democratic-socialist-capitalist.html I've quit your group. You point out how the "red scare" started with Ike (and his change to "under god" in the pledge and on money" ). and how it's "wrongly put on Bernie and A.O.C." Then You say "The move now is to convince everyone (or as many as possible) that there is no chance for us unless we re-elect Trump." .??? Huh? I don't see that move... You recognize (unlike most Trumpsters) that Social security and Universal health care are good... You say that the red scare is caused by people other than the common man (i.e. our wealthy) who want to keep their money...again, anti-Trump/pro democrats... Then you ramble on about the falsehood ("Nothing even close to this is happening") of Democrats supporting efforts to murder aborted babies...another anti Trump position... These are all sounding anti-Trump...pro Bernie/democrats, to me. Do you not see your own confusion? Why would you suggest we re-elect Trump? I'm confused. Please clarify?

Fuels will be gone...soon. Not in our my lifetime; but within a few decades.
