@glennlab I was here. I moved to Austin in 71. I watched it all happen. It was unbelievably fast. The music scene was the driving force, but it only took a couple of years to transform that city. Of course it isn't weird anymore. It likes to think it is, but that was gone by the turn of the century. Thank goodness that lower drinking age didn't last long. That was a fiasco.

@Jolanta That is the point. How often does that happen to men? I suppose if two women ask a man out and he turned down one, you could say he turns down half of them. That really isn't the point. I don't think anyone should go out with someone they don't want to. We were discussing the amount of times men face rejection, because 90% of the time we are the ones expected to do the pursuing. I also don't believe it is a picnic to have to turn someone down. The mating game is difficult at its easiest, and a nightmare at its most difficult.

You can't make someone feel something they don't, I would rather be the one being rejected, than the one doing the rejecting. I find disappointment or pain easier to deal with than guilt from hurting someone.
