I can't explain this state. It is a mystery how Austin ever blossomed into this island of liberalism in the middle of the state, and l was living here as it happened. Once it started it moved fast. It is a weird place.

@glennlab I was here. I moved to Austin in 71. I watched it all happen. It was unbelievably fast. The music scene was the driving force, but it only took a couple of years to transform that city. Of course it isn't weird anymore. It likes to think it is, but that was gone by the turn of the century. Thank goodness that lower drinking age didn't last long. That was a fiasco.

I don't think anyone should go out with someone they don't want to. We were discussing the amount of times men face rejection, because 90% of the time we are the ones expected to do the pursuing. I also don't believe it is a picnic to have to turn someone down. The mating game is difficult at its easiest, and a nightmare at its most difficult.

You can't make someone feel something they don't, I would rather be the one being rejected, than the one doing the rejecting. I find disappointment or pain easier to deal with than guilt from hurting someone.
