@PondartIncbendog No, not exactly under a tree, but knew my Cyprus pine was there long before he installed the panels. Kind of like his 'brilliant (LOL)' idea, a few years back, of putting roof insulation on the OUTSIDE of his roof to stop the heat from warming up the corrugated iron sheeting on the roof.. He even used sail cloth to hold it down, that lasted until the Spring when we get very strong, gusty winds, then everyone spent the spring try to clean up his insulation from their yards and gardens.

@Pralina1 Exactly my own thoughts. The centre photo is his Evaporative Air Cooler system btw, he has spent, in my rough estimation, well over 2,500 dollars so far on replacing parts, the Water pump, etc, etc, and still it doesn't cool his down during the summer heats of 40 or more degree temperatures. IF he listened to me, he could have replaced it completely, as I did with mine when the original one failed after 30+ years of service, but purchasing a frame, etc, from one that had been removed from a house that was being demolished, revamping it slightly with new filter pads and in summers having a house where the internal temp. is a nice comfortable 18 to 20 degrees Celsius and NO messy ducting, etc, covered with tarpaulins and masses of Duct tape and rubbish. My revamped one cost me $300.00 and a few hours of work.

Joanna the goanna can easily eat about 20 snails a day but she also has my resident family of Shingle-backed lizards to contend with with it comes to the snail problem. This is a photo of Joanna the goanna, she kind of 'adopted' my house and yards after I found her suffering from starvation and thirst trying to drink from my garden pond about 8 years or more ago. I snapped the photo when my young nephew, Henry, had his very first encounter with and was hand-feeding her. Joanna is now a very 'plump' goanna who measures out at approx. 6' long from nose tip to tail tip. Not bad for one who was only about 18" long and near to death when she first arrived.

@TimeOutForMe He immediately tore up ALL the lawns and gardens with a Bobcat when he arrived and set about paving (??) the grounds with a mix of finely crushed rock and cement powder which he saturates with water and then compacts it all down with this noisy, petrol powered compacting device. A few weeks ago, when we copped 2 and a half inches of rain (our first decent rain in nearly 5 years), because he, who claims to be a qualified Stone Mason and Builder, excavated the level of the ground down to about 18"- 2' sloping from the street towards his back fence SUDDENLY discovered that his entire back yard was underwater. Now he has solar panels on his roof and wants to me to cut down a Cyprus Pine tree, at a guess 100+ years old, in MY Yard no less simply because it throws a shadow over HIS solar panels in the very late afternoon. The tree does NOT encroach on his property in any way, it is a home to birds all year round, stands, roughly, some 30 feet high and it has a trunk diameter of approx. 4 to 4 and a half feet. He has 2 chances of me cutting it down, S.F.A. (Sweet F--k All) and Bugger All.

@K9Kohle789 Yeah I can believe it. in late 2001, my Blue Heeler, Charlie, saved me from being bitten by a venomous Mulga snake while I was hand-watering my lawn. He deliberately 'shoulder charged' at me, knocked me out of the way and the snake got him instead. Having no car, just a motorbike at the time, I rang both the local, privately owned and operated Vet Clinic and the R.S.P.C.A. Clinic as well. No response from the R.S.P.C.A. ( after hours), but the private Vet answered and when I fold of my dog being bitten by a snake his response both shocked and appalled me. He simply said, " Too bad, I'm watching television at the moment, either bring him here, just let him die or I'll come in about an hour and a half but it will cost you $2,500 Call-out fee and what ever else the treatments costs on top," and slammed the receiver down on me. I know it is all movie stuff, but I immediately set about applying a pressure bandage above the bite, then got a very sharp knife, cut open the bite site and sucked the blood, etc. I sat up the entire night keeping watch over Charlie and the next morning, I must have dozed off, because I awakened by Charlie nudging my arm and doing his 'I need to go outside now" bit. He was 12 months at that time and lived for another happy 15 years until he died in his sleep in his own special sleeping place.

@K9Kohle789 Oh yeah, some Vets know how to 'charge like a wounded bull' don't they? I once had a Vet try to tell me that 'neutering' George would cure his Kidney problem BUT it would cost me an extra 11,000 dollars to get it done. I simply said to the Vet, " Hey, I'm a nurse, his kidneys are a long way away from his balls you know and his ball have nothing to do with how his kidneys work." 2 days later I found another Vet who checked George over, prescribed a change in diet and some medications used in humans for exactly the problem for a mere cost of 10 dollars per month BUT he also advised that this would NOT cure the problem, just ease the symptoms and give George a bit linger life to live and enjoy. George was about12 moths old at the time, so I reckon he got the best treatment as well as good life and a longer one than was to be expected.

@K9Kohle789 Oh so sad, my sincerest condolences to you on the loss of Kohle. I had a much loved Russian Wolfhound named George many, many years ago, he had severe kidney problems in old age also plus, he bought as a 'Stud Dog' but he also had a impairment in that he was born with a thing called 'micro/mini Penis' in that his penis never developed beyond the size it was when he was just a tiny puppy. Old George was a true character though, he loved watching television, had his very own Beanbag, decided that sleeping on the floor BESIDE my bed was "not for him" and that 'sharing my bed' was a better idea, except that a Russian Wolfhound usually grows to a height at the shoulders of around 32" to 38" and more, has very long legs and likes to, literally, spread out meaning I only got the barest available edge of the bed to TRY to sleep in...LOL. George was the first ever of his breed to be trained and Certified in Australia as a Companion Dog in Dog Obedience, everyone found it a great joke when we arrived at the first Trial, shouting things like " That stupid animal is a waste of time, you can't teach them anything," and other even more disheartening stuff, BUT we got the last laugh when the scores came in, George scored 99/100 on the first trial, 99/100 on the second and blitzed the third with 100/100 while the rest of the competitors failed miserably. George was 9 years old when he began Obedience training, was an Obedience Champion 18 months later and ,sadly, passed away in his sleep aged 12 years. His pedigree name was 'Matalona Zancho's Pride.'

Well, given that we CANNOT truly eradicate viruses completely at present then, as I see it, our ONLY chance is for Science to 'unlock' the codes' of viruses and in doing so find a way to manipulate them in ways far more favourable and less harmful to ALL concerned. Unfortunately, and imo, a lot of vaccines, but not all, are only a kind of short term solution to a long term problem just as we have found out to our despair that Antibiotics such Penicillin have become in relation to the bacteria, etc, like the Steph. and Staph. varieties who have 'developed' are strong resistance to Antibiotics thus negating the effectiveness of such treatments. At present, all we have to battle Covid is such often drastic measures as Lockdowns and the like to TRY our best to contain and control the spread of it as we know happen with both the Spanish Flu and the Bubonic/ Pneumonic Plagues, Typhus, Cholera, Measles, etc, etc, of centuries past. But even these measures are only a kind of stop-gap, short term ones since we now know that viruses are a thing that can adapt/mutate and change very swiftly. Imo, WHAT we need the Scientific and Research Communities to do is Seek out the ways in which viruses adapt, etc, survive for ages in non-reactive host situations thus being able to battle the viruses on their own terms and on the 'home-grounds' BEFORE they adapt/mutate. But sadly, the Vaccine Producers are far more concerned, imo, with their Financial Bottom Lines and Profit Margins than they are with actually saving lives and defeating these diseases outright. To my mind, the ONLY way around these 'money-grubbing Pharmo Organisations is to create a Universal Research and Development Organisation, funded by ALL Nations as equally as possible, totally devoid of the influences of Pharmo Organisations with the sole aim and directive to eradicate these viruses once and for all.

To YOUR obvious rant I comment with this meme and the following, a) any persons body IS their body and theirs alone, it belongs to them neither God nor the State, it IS theirs, b) HAVE you ever PERSONALLY witness the ENTIRE processes a woman goes through from start to finish in Pregnancy, Gestation, giving Birth, raising a child/children, c) did you ever feel totally run-down , exhausted, at the end of your tether, etc, etc, from lack of sleep due to 2 hourly feedings, changing nappies, trying to calm a baby suffering from colic, etc, etc, and last, but by no means least, d) have you EVER carried a developing baby/child inside your body only to have it be either miscarried, be still born, die soon after birth, die later as a child/teen from a disease like cancer ,etc, etc? I, for one, CANNOT say that I have done the things women MUST go through during pregnancies BUT as a Mid-wife with much experience, I have seen what they go through and as a parent who both lost a child stillborn at 24 weeks and a daughter, aged just 16 years, to cancer I can say that I have a bit more than just mere inkling of what they MUST endure. Hence my suggestion , humble as it may be, IS, UNLESS you've been there, done that, DO NOT make judgements.

I seem to recall when the Scientific world stated that Coelacanths went extinct at the time of the dinosaurs but had to a big back-flip when a living one was hauled off Sth. Africa. We know far less about what dwells in the depths of the Oceans, imo, than we do about Universe around us, so who can say for a 100% certainty what is still living down there. Plus I seem to remember seeing a Documentary about 15 or more years ago, made in Australia where the front portion of a Hump-back Whale washed up on beach in southern Western Australia and it had a number of massive shark's teeth still wedged into its flesh, teeth they said were far to big to come from any known adult sized Great White Shark. They even went as far as doing a side-scan sonar research job on the vast region of the sea bed in area and found a massive underwater canyon too deep for even their best equipment to go down into, so anything could be living down in those depths for all we know. I mean, we get Crocs here in Australia that are anywhere from a few metres long to ones around the 4-5 metres in length, fish in the Darling River known as Murray Cod that I have seen, personally, ranging from a few feet in length to one in particular that measured out at 5' 9 and a half inches in length and weighed in at nice, heavy 65lbs dripping wet and still flapping. Mind you I'm by no means saying that something akin to 'Nessie' exists but as we all know some species have adapted to changes in environments, etc, but reducing their overall size, etc, and sharks have been around more than long enough to do that imo.

Steel tubing is another beast of a far different kind though.

Except of course for, imo, those rank, selfish idiots who seemingly are thinking ONLY of themselves and their so-called 'personal needs and desires, thus putting the health and lives of others at risk, etc, etc. S.O.P. in Medicine and Hospitals is, when ANY highly infectious out-break occurs is to immediately isolate the patient from the rest of the hospital and initiate aseptic and sterile protocols such as limiting the number of Staff attending to patient zero to limit the spread BUT not to any extent that treatment and care to patient zero, or others who may also have been compromised, etc. As yourself this question, Would you prefer that any person who MAY be carrying Covid be simply allowed to walk the streets where you live freely and unrestricted? IF it were such a thing as Ebola, Typhus, Cholera, Bubonic Plague, etc, etc, would YOU still be screaming and whining about having your 'personal liberties' restricted then? As a nurse I was called upon numerous to times to do my duties and 'special nurse' patients with HIGLY infectious diseases, even once a patient with Stage 3 Syphilis, a VERY HIGHLY infectious disease even these days that CAN, in Stages 2 and 3, be passed on by simple contact skin to skin or body fluid to bare skin, Isolation Protocols worked then and NO-ONE screamed about having their 'liberties' restricted, so WHY are you and others doing so now?

But the Faithfools are so well renowned as being 'expert Cherry-pickers' and merely 'avoiding ' such sanctions and passages that, imo, they would ONLY ever read precisely what their Priest, etc, told them to read and nothing else. After all, sheep is as sheep does.

@Cutiebeauty Perhaps, as an Aussie to an American I should explain that "a Sav is Aussie slang for either a sausage or a Frankfurter/Saveloy hence a Hotdog is a Sav on a roll or in broken english, a savonarola....LOL.

"His claim he’s doing a great job on Covid is so false it’s one for the textbooks." But what did Biden say that made you feelyou'd be in competent hands? I don't see any comprehensive covid management ideas, anything new, coming from him. And you can't say " Give him time". And plans to increase...

@glennlab Well it IS most definitely NOT the wealth and riches that do the 'trickling down,' it is the bullshit and the liquid that makes up the bullshit that does the 'trickling down.' In my honest opinion, ONLY in Economics and Commerce does anything ever defy gravity since ONLY the money rises to the top, the shit ALWAYS rushes downwards.

Kind of like the sign I saw on the Pharmacy in my area last week. " Open 7 days a week, 365 days a year UNLESS we are closed."
Triphid replies on Oct 1, 2020:
@Lilac-JadeCanada Yep and like a t-shirt I bought recently that had written on the label "Wash and Wear but do not wear while washing."
Ignosticism

I've been an ignostic Episcopalian for a decade or so, works for me. If I ever hear a definition of "god" that makes sense, I'll revisit the issue.
Triphid replies on Oct 1, 2020:
Well, don't go holding your breath waiting for such a definition to happen please.
