@skado Jeez Louise @Skado, after years as a nurse I'd reckon I'd know quite well that all our thoughts, et, etc, are generated in our brains, where else would they come from, our Anus perhaps? To many the word' spiritual oft reeks of the religious connotation, i.e. holy spirit, etc, etc, and that is why I try to get you to put across a clearer and more precise explanation/definition. However, re- your ending paragraph, I do not see other humans as 'enemies' as such UNLESS they threaten me or those I care about and I am both a humanist and a pacifist to the best of my abilities.

@skado A) So-called "Western Civilisation" is NOT completely the product of the Christian religion nor the bible, B) it took me less than a minute to use a Search Engine and find 16+ Dictionary definitions for BOTH spellings of the word Non-corporeal/Noncorporeal, Does that tell you anything?, ii) "My best guess would be the brain," simply your supposition then, ergo no evidence to support it, C) "Yep," We living beings are evolved from matter, ergo we are material - Logic, yet it has never been shown nor proven that anything remotely resembling 'spiritual exist either within or around us, i) " Scientist haven't found "material yet.......: In which reference/s do you use the term "material" and the searches made by these scientist that haven't found anything material yet," Are you perhaps making the implication/s that the ground upon which we walk, live and dwell IS purely a figment of the imagination or something, the Solar body upon which most of life on this planet depends is also a figment of the imagination or that the walls, floors roofs, etc, of our dwellings are merely just as imaginary?

@skado Okay then let us start with, A) "People can be "poor in spirit," a terminology that has its roots way back in the earlier years of the Judaic Belief system, ergo it has religious overtones, B) "Definitions include "spirit being incorporeal ( sorry to be pedantic here but that IS Noncorporeal, not incorporeal btw) and non-material, i) "feelings and thoughts, etc, etc, but are, themselves non-material," well all animals have sensations/feelings of some sort or another and humans are no different except we have learned to harness them, use them to our own benefit/s and, by inventing languages, have evolved to given them names, ii) so, according to your definition/s these words I type here are but both non-material and have emerged from a 'material substrate,' where, precisely can this 'material substrate' be found or located?, C) "We're material and spiritual," i) can you show empirically tried, tested and proven evidence in favour of this ASSUMPTION you so put forward as being a FACT?

@Moravian If you read the numerous accounts of the Roman Empire, they were quite tolerant of the belief systems of the peoples they conquered. Yes, it IS claimed that the Romans had a 'bug-bear' of a problem with the Celtic Druids but they Romans actually 'adopted/adapted' many of Celtic Gods, etc, into their belief systems as well. Historically, the BIGGEST Haters of any other belief systems until the rise of Islam have been the Christians without even the shadow of a doubt.

@AnonySchmoose I agree with you there, I often feel more 'energised' when I'm out in bush around where I lived but I don't see as a 'spiritual thing' more like my body is getting back in synch with the rhythms, etc, that are both a part of nature and our bodies. Like most other animals, primates included, we have what is termed a Circadian Clock in our system. It is linked somehow to the rhythms of day and night, regulating our times of sleep, activity, etc, etc, to a natural pattern. Shift working, especially night shift, can alter those regulations, sometimes quite drastically, since night shift forces the workers to be awake when they should be sleeping and vice versa. Imo, there is nothing remotely 'spiritual' in either nature nor the human body/being, we are just another part of the cycles of nature, nothing more, nothing less.

Actually those 'tales' of Xrstian persecutions in Ancient Rome are just that, fairy stories, since the Romans NEVER forced those they conquered to accept and worship their Pantheon of Deities, in actual fact, the Romans were well known for adopting and adapting the Gods, etc, of others into their own belief systems. Ergo, and legally speaking, just as Faith is soley dependent upon belief without questioning or evidential proof, therefore it is a False Claim, legally, "since ANY Claim unsupported by Tried, Tested, Irrefutable, empirical evidence is NOTHING more than False and thus deserves to be dismissed out of hand as such."

I usually save the "spewing forth of profanities" for other situations and in those case they tend to become very explicit, like when my alarm clock decides to go off at what ever time suits it for example, or ( as happened a while back) the head of the hammer decided to come adrift and smash its way through a window behind me. Never again shall I purchase a hammer with a wooden handle, I've now gone '21st. Century" and bought one with a molded synthetic handle, the old hammer head has been given a 'Christian burial.' i.e. it is now awaiting resurrection in the scrap metal bin where, when needed it will be 'converted' by the fire of my forge and live again as something new....LOL.

So in being on the streets of a town/city, where btw he does not actually live and has been driven there by his mother, who would have known full well that he had ammunition AND a fully loaded military style weapon, he allegedly kills 2 people and injures a 3rd, he was merely defending himself, is that correct? If so, then did his 3 alleged victims, A) also have loaded firearms in their possession, B) DID they actually use them to attack Rittenhouse by firing at him first, C) Was it a scenario similar to the fabled O.K. Corral and the 3 alleged victims were ALL standing together shoulder to shoulder, D) Why did both he and his mother feel the need to travel to Kenosha in the first place, E) WHY did he feel the need to travel to Kenosha WITH a military style weapon in the first place, F) Why did NOT his mother simply refuse to drive him and his weapon to Kenosha? IF i were a lawyer, which thankfully I'm not, I'd be saying that his acts were 100% premediated and intent upon committing murder in the First Degree.

Well IF one compares the Australian 'solution' as it stands atm to what is happening elsewhere in the world, the U.S., Brazil, etc, etc, then our sad Death toll and the 'solution' is doing as best it can in a very bad situation. Try to remember that the Plague killed nearly 1 third of the population of Europe when it struck, Poliomyelitis wrought absolute havoc when it struck and literally thousands of children either died or suffered from paralysis as a result. So until we can fight viruses on their own terms and destroy them we must use whatever solutions we have at hand for now OR the only other 'solution' is go along on own merry little ways and watch as MASS burials are the new norm and I don't really think we in Australia want to see that happening now do we?
