@Betty Mine, named Miss Porkchops btw, was a feral piglet I found abandoned beside the Inspection road that runs alongside the main Railway Lines that goes through western N.S.W. from Sydney through to Perth, Western Australia. Soft as melted butter me, picked her up, put her in my tool bag, which was empty at the time because I taking replacement padlocks out to the Signal Huts, and brought her home where she somehow decided that she was a dog in disguise and the story unfolded from there. Of course, just as she did with my dogs, Ben the Whippet, shah the Saluki and George the Borzoi, 3 year old Lorrae deemed miss Porkchops to be HJER new friend and pet as well. No problem there EXCEPT she wanted to add to the privilege of having Ben, the Whippet, sleep beside her bed every night and have Miss Porkchops included in her night-time retinue as well.

The kerfuffle that "discovery caused way back then would be kind of akin, perhaps, to an Archaeologist finding a M16 rifle in with the skeleton of a 100,000 year old human being. It seems that approx. 1 in every 200,000 people are born with and are living quite normally and happily with this ectopic heart beat. @Betty Yes to numbers one imo, as to the rest, number is a basis for a quite a number of Counselling cases I have had and am still getting only way too more of as well, No. 3 would be a yes and no situation depending upon a number of contributing factors, No.4 is a definite yes and occurs even the best of families though they are loath to tell that it happens, No. 5 yes to this one, children are great manipulators, a 'talent' that some t, hone and utilize throughout adulthood and others seem to loose it either partially or fully as they get older so I have found over the years, No. 6 well imo, are we not all guilty of doing that from time to time, perhaps NOT on such 'grand scales' as do some, bit still do it when we feel that it is needed though, and now we come to No. 6, a situation/subject that, as Counsellor, I am only too aware from the number of clients I have had in just that very situation, gender mis-matching/transsexuality, use what ever name you wish, IS a big problem with and for those who do not see themselves, and imo, are 100% correct in seeing themselves as NOT belonging in the body and gender that they were born with/into. Yes I have seen the TRAUMAS, etc, that they must face and endure MAINLY because the parents and other adults cannot come to grips the notion that their child MAY have external appearances and genitalia of a male but inside are emotions, etc, etc, of a female, and these cases, imo, usually arise at or in the earlier stages of puberty and the resultant 'pressures' etc, exerted upon the child by parents, other adults, etc, etc, are truly horrendous and extremely damaging and harmful as well. As to the idea that "transsexual" have a childhood trauma that prompted excessive attention seeking behaviour/s later in life, then I'd say a definite NO in at least 80-90% of cases and a slightly possible but unlikely in the remaining 10 - 20 percentile.

@Betty Yes I agree in part but as a Psychologist I've also know many who are just the "Look at me, Look at Me" attention seeker types but do it ONLY to get the self glory that comes from grabbing the attention of everyone and anyone. Now that I think about, they were doing almost the very thing and antics as was another, what the locals called a " Me, Me shark" a few years ago. He/she was a transsexual BUT definitely NOT like those I have met and gotten to know via my practising in Counselling, etc. This one was ALL Media and Media Exposure and would not stop at almost anything to get it. If he/she even got the slightest idea that 2 people could be sitting on bench in public chatting about anything including household news, local events, State events, the Weather, etc, etc, and NOT even having even the merest glimmer of a passing thought regarding him/her, then with virtually no time at all, he/she would be trying to start legal proceedings against them. That so most of the locals have since been told is the TRUE reason why he/she suddenly upped and left town, as it had done so many countless from other locations across the State, so quickly, suddenly and left no forwarding address, etc, etc, we know he/she departed because he /she was seen by a Police Officer to be boarding a Passenger Train headed towards Western Australia.

@Betty My Charlie saga is nowhere near as dramatic or heart rending as yours but here goes any way. Charlie and I would often sit on the lawn out the back of the house and I'd often shed a few tears because it was not that long after my daughter Lorrae had died from cancer. Any way, this one evening, late in the summer of 2001-2002 we sitting as usual while I was hold the hose and watering the lawn, suddenly, Charlie acts strange, leaps up and knocks off the plastic crate that I was sitting and then starts snarling and snapping at what at first merely looked like a grey and light brown speckled piece of a small branch, that turned out, suddenly to be not a branch but a young Mulga snake, very nasty and quite venomous to boot. The snake bit Charlie just a split second before I managed to slam the blade edge of a long handled shovel down on its neck, killing it. I gathered up Charlie, carried him inside the house and rang both Vet clinics only to get the Private Vet telling me to bring the dog out to him because he did not want to miss out on HIS favourite t.V. show and the other was answering machine that merely said to ring during Business hours. So, around his leg went a quick compression bandage, because all I had for transport at the time was my 850 cc Suzuki Motorcycle, and I needed to do something, anything, then I knicked the bit area with a very sharp razor blade, and did the John Wayne trick of sucking out what ever venom there was in the wound. Yes, I know I could have envenomated myself by doing so through the slightest crack in my lips or a scratch in my gums, etc. I forced myself to stay awake all night and watched over my best and closest friend, by about 5 in the morning his breathing was stronger and steadier, his colour had returned to his gum and he was sleeping soundly, then I think I must have dozed off because then next thing I remember is getting a wet tongue lick up the side of my face and those eyes of his almost saying, " Hey, it is breakfast time, so where is my coffee and toast." A sight so wonderful in the dreariest of times that I literally sat there and cried my eyes out while hugging him like a child.
Oh how I wish I had NOT seen what just walked past my house.
