Triphid replies on Sep 30, 2020:
@azzow2 At least our Red-backs are more easily identified, they have a red stripe down the middle of the back of their abdomen. A lot people in Aus. don't realize that the most venomous spider of all here is the one we call the "Daddy Long Legs" its body is about the size of a grain of wheat, seemingly attached to the longest, spindliest looking legs, its venom is more than enough to kill an adult human twice over BUT its fangs are far to short to penetrate human skin. "Daddy Long legs" preys mostly on other spiders, flies, insects but will, when the opportunity arises, have a go at small lizards and even the odd wasp which is usually a whole bigger than the spider itself. They ARE the ONLY spiders I will let live freely in around my home.

@azzow2 Don't forget our Red-back Spiders, they are well known for their bite first, ask questions later attitude. Kinda like U.S. Cops these days, aren't they? We have 'Trappies' out here as well but their bite is more a source of irritation than it is toxic unlike the Sydney Funnel Webs or the Red-backs. Btw, a bit of info on the Aussie Red-backs, ONLY the females are known to bite and inject venom, the males are small, very timid little blokes who have to be quick when mating or they get to be the after 'coitus snack.'

Sorry to tell you, BUT the story about that 'hat' is a 100% myth. Out here in Aussie outback we actually use one of two things, 1) a commercially available Insect Repellant called Aero-guard that is available either in a spray-on form or Roll-on form, or, 2) in cases of desperation, scrunched up Eucalytpus leaves, new and fresh ones preferred btw, and rubbed on the exposed skin areas. We Aussie 'invented' that 'Corked hat' myth to suck in those around the world who'd be dumb enough to believe it was fact.

@azzow2 99.99999999% cancers, despite what some people believe, are NOT communicable nor contagious, that is 100% pure and unadulterated mythology and bullshit to the max. Thus far the ONLY POSSIBLY communicable form of cancer is Cervical cancer and that has been proven to be caused by a virus. Thought to be, at present, a possible mutant version of the Herpes Simplex virus that causes 'Cold Sores' ( blisters ) to appear around the mouth and on the lips on some but everyone. 99.99999999% of cancers are resultant from mutations, either caused by external or internal influences acting upon the genetic codes contained within 1 or a few cells in the body, these cells then begin to grow out of control, defeat the immune system and flood through the body like a tidal wave. Sadly, such asinine comments such as "Cancers are contagious, etc, etc," are more harmful emotionally and psychologically to those battling the cancer/s within them than even the treatments could ever be. THIS, I know for a FACT for I spent 24/7 a year beside my 15 year old Daughter as she battled cancer and spent every minute possible studying up on cancers through books, etc, that her Oncologists could get their hands on. @azzow2 Sadly that does happen but as a nurse of many years experience and looking at, imo, how the 'barbaric U.S, Health system, IF it can be even called that, operates I'd much rather take my chances knowing that at least I can get admitted to a hospital or see a Doctor if I need to just by producing my Medicare details. My daughter received the best care and treatment, etc, available when she was both diagnosed and was undergoing Chemotherapy for cancer even though we, Doctors included, were fully aware that her chances of fully recovering were somewhere between 5 and 10 in a hundred because it had been diagnosed at a later stage because of a G.P. who, is now de-registered btw, imo, was more interested in having a 'production line system ' of patients than doing the job he was trained to do. Yes, our system may require patients to be in shared hospital rooms during treatment/s from time to time BUT that is only a problem for the 'Cloud Sniffing Snobs' in society. Yes when one is gainfully employed we pay a very small percentage of our weekly/fortnightly income as a Levy into the Medicare system, about 1-2% if memory serves correct, but that self-same system covers you for Life and has no fiscal limits on it what-so-ever unlike the U.S. Medical Insurance Scheme systems..

@Coffeo Firstly, do a wee bit of checking because, A) The Moon is slowly moving away from the Earth as PROVEN by the N.A.S.A. via the usage of a Laser and a reflective surface placed on the moon by the Apollo missions. E.g. the Laser is fired from an independent Observatory, timed and the resultant return ( reflection) time is recorded and then the distance is calculated. This HAS been going on since the late 70's btw. And YES, the Moon, just like the Earth, varies in its relative distance/s from the sun as with the Earth and the Moon with the Earth in its orbit around the Earth. B) The Moon affects tides as does the Sun and also the juxta-positioning of both the Sun and Moon creates tidal effects on the oceans and seas. C) As we humans discover more and more about the nature of the Universe from we evolved, Yes we are discovering newer and interesting things in regards to gravity, which is great news btw, BUT the very basics of Gravity will always remain the same in that it is a force of attraction between objects, be the huge and massive or as small as grains of dust.

@azzow2 Nationalised Health Care schemes do actually work, they may not 100% perfect but they do the best they can. We've had a National Health Care system in Australia for decades, Britain has had theirs since the 60's at least, they may have their problems but they work far far better than the system you do NOT have in the U.S. For example, I can go to my G.P. have a consultation, get a prescription/s that I need and NOT pay 1 single penny from my pocket. I can the get that prescription filled at the Chemists and it ONLY costs me around $6.50 max, where it would normally cost anywhere between 30 and 60+ dollars, I can be hospitalised, cared for and released later and still costs me absolutely ZERO. All because we have a thing called "Medicare " that is available to everyone, poor, etc, alike.

@azzow2 The simple Mantra of Politics and Religions is, imo, " Tell the People what YOU want them to think and Believe, then you've got them exactly where you want them." IMO, a very Prime example of this Mantra was with Hitler and his rise to power in post WWI Germany. Another could easily be tRump and how he rose to power as Potus and exploits, nurtures, panders, etc, to the psychological weaknesses and defects, etc, of his devotees and followers. Speaking here as Psychologist and having studied tRump via the media, etc, I'd say that, imo, there are many parallels evident between him, Hitler, Mussolini and Stalin just to name a few. He, imo, shows to be a Narcissist, Sociopath, Misogynist, Racist, Manipulator and exhibits definite Dictatorial tendencies beyond the realms of what we'd call 'normal''. Triphid replies on Sep 21, 2020:
@bbyrd009 The gravitation effects of an object are greater in a kind of equilibrium with the size, weight and dimensions of the object that exerts its gravitational pull, etc. Ergo gravity does cause time and space to 'wrap' just as would the surface of a cup of water be 'warped' when an object, a stone for example, is held, suspended, and just slightly touching the surface of the water. But that does NOT mean that gravity/gravitational attraction does NOT exist between objects, for example, the moon exerts its much weaker gravitational pull on the water covering the seas and oceans thus influencing the tides, the gravitational pull of Earth tries to keep the moon from flying off into space BUT the moon's gravitational force also tries to negate the pull of Earth's gravity hence every so often the moon moves just a few centimetres further away from the Earth and has been doings so for millennia and will continue to do so.

Okay, so in your opinion "absolutes do NOT exist outside mathematics" correct? Then what about Physics for example? How about Newton's Laws of Motion for example? And, how about the forces and actions of Gravity for yet another example? Lets us, for a moment consider Gravity, that force that keeps everything on this planet from merely drifting off through the atmosphere and into space. I drop a 5 kilogram Lead ball from a height of 30 feet above the ground, there are no obstructions to hinder what ever progress it makes BUT it falls directly towards the ground below, i.e. the Absolute reaction of one smaller body being attracted by the Gravitation force exerted by a larger body upon the smaller one. Yes, chances are that the Lead ball will REBOUND upon impact BUT only to a certain and small degree simply because, and here comes yet another ABSOLUTE btw, the Inertial energy stored within the Lead ball is converted to Kinetic energy at impact thus producing the recoil/rebound effect.

@Cutiebeauty Try this Cheeseslaw, Peel and grate about 6-8 large carrots, Dice up at least 6 Sweet spiced pickled Onions, the same in Sweet Spiced pickled Gherkins, add the lot to a medium sized mixing bowl, a decent pinch of salt and pepper, a crushed clove of Garlic, at least 400 grams of Shredded 4 Cheeses melt, stir well, Mayonnaise recipe, ! can of Nestles Condensed Milk, the juice of 1 lemon, 2 teaspoons of Mustard powder, 100 - 150 mls of white vinegar, stir until it is all mixed into a thin paste, like slightly beaten cream. Then pour about 6 dessertspoons of mayonnaise into Cheeseslaw mix, stir in well. And voila, you now have Aussie Cheeseslaw. Mayonnaise will last for 3-4 weeks IF kept in sealed jar and refrigerated, Slaw will keep, IF you're lucky that is, for 3-4 days if refrigerated OR you and the family do NOT devour it all first. Great as a side dish, salad for picnics, etc, kids/adults love it on toasted sandwiches, can even be used to make 'surprise' canapes at parties, etc.

Before serving, boil/steam potatoes for mashing, just before you give the potatoes the final mashing add in a large handful of shredded cheeses, I use it from a packet of 4 Cheeses melt available in Supermarkets here, Steam some vegetables, When those and the potatoes are ready, serve them up, add the Chicken mix to each serving then spoon some of the Apricot Nectar sauce from the Slow Cooker over everything, Sit back and enjoy.
So, there I was sitting on my front veranda, drinking a well earned coffee, minding my own business.
