I don't know where the narrator got his info regarding Horus but, imo, he's barking up the wrong tree. Yes Horus was the son of Osiris and Isis, Osirus WAS the son of Khnum ( Amun) the Creator of All things according to the Egyptian Story of Creation, Horus was NOT defeated by his unlce, Seth, Horus defeated Seth after Seth killed Osirus out of jealousy, dismembered the body and hid the pieces. Horus lost his right eye in the ensuing battle with Seth, Isis and her sister Nephtys recovered the body of Osirus, resurrected him but could not find his heart. Ra/Re is the Sungod personified, also depicted as the Aton by Amenhotep IV/ Akhenaton and each night Ra/Re travels through the Underworld battling the darkness and returning at sun-rise each new day. As for the December, 25th, the Egyptian Calender contained no such month of that name. That came from the much later Roman Calender pre- the Julian Calander, ancient Egyptian calenders did have named months BUT those months were made up of 3 weeks with 10 days in every week plus 5 inauspicious days incleded in every year except for every fourth year to which an extra inauspicious day was added, i.e. 365 days for every 3 years and 366 in the every fourth year.

My good Sir, the ONLY effect prayer of any kind ever has is the Psychological Placebo Effect. E.g. " I lost my keys, I was desperate to find them, I prayed to God/Jesus and, miraculously, they WERE in the very last place I looked for them, thank you God and Jesus." Simple logic will tell anyone with even half a brain that a lost article WILL turn up in the very LAST place you look for them. Ergo, use logical thought and things will be resolved.

@BirdMan1 Yep, I know about that kind of stuff, when I was about 14 years old I suffered from very intense headaches all in the front region of my head. It was suspected by Doctors that I had a brain tumour and was hospitalised for over 3 wekks, underwent numerous procedures like EEGs, AEGs, Lumbar punctures, etc, etc. One day, during visting hours, this very stern, official looking bloke came wandering around the hospital ward and stood there looking at each patient in turn.mumbled something, made the sign of the cross and moved on to the next patient. When he got to me, he stopped, looked, his mouth opened very wide and then shouted, " This child is possessed by the spirits of long dead Sorcerors and Witches, they must be expelled by me or he will surely die." Thankfully the nurses removed him from the Ward and the Hospital post-haste, but not without him screaming " You are killing this child, you must let me treat him, let medo God's work." About half an hour later the Specialist came to my bed-side, apologised for that "out-rage' having ocurred" and then informed me that my headaches were being caused " not by being possessed but as a result of a car accident I had been in about 6 months earlier where my forehead had struck the rounded edge of the dashboard, fractured the thin bones cvering my Frontal Sinuses and that when the bone had healed it was now causing pressure to build up, intermittantly, in the blood vessels running through the Sinuses and with medication it can be corrected and the headaches will eventual go away." Haven't had one of those headaches now for well over 40+ years thankfully, so either the 'spirits' ( LOL) got so drugged out of their 'ethereal minds and wandered off, or the medications worked perfectly. My vote goes 100% for the meds btw.

Triphid replies on Jul 3, 2020:
@Amzungu Yes but there is a vast difference between 'Moral and Ethical Lore' and that as purported by religions, both ancient and modern. Techniically Morals and Ethics can be dated back to the earliest times when the species Homo first evolved amid a world full of Predators and found that by 'grouping' together they could offer protection, etc, etc, to each other thus ensuring the survival of the species, that ideology still stands today, well in a large percentage that is, for both human and animal parents just as it most probably has done since even the times of the dinosaurs as well imo. Those ARE the innate 'drives' that at least 80-90% of all animal life forms have, though sadly and unfortunately, it seems that some human parents have mislaid those innate instincts these days. In this case, imo and NOT being disparaging, etc, to @skado, I tend to think that an old adage may apply to friend skado, i.e. " A person who seeks to know everything about ONLY one thing ends up knowing nothing about everything, a person who seeks to know something about everything ends up knowing a great deal, about all things."

Hey, @273kelvin, have you ever wondered why we exported Fosters Lager to England? It was our way getting rid of a beer that tastes like camel's piss whether it's cold or hot like you Brits drink your beer. Oh, btw, Did you know that England has the biggest Sewage disposal system in the world? They flush ALL their shit down the sewers and it comes up in almost every country except England.
Q. How do you get an Englishman to take a bath?

It comes from an old Aussie concept that the English were often loathe to bath more thn once per week UNLESS there was some special reason to do so. Historically speaking, it is a well known FACT, historically, the Queen Elizabeth the First ONLY bathed twice per year, whether she needed to or not hence the reference.

@hankster No, my dislike of religion/s has absolutely nothing to do with any of it in actual fact. That IS one of the main reasons why I and 13 others around the Globe often get the honour of being sent copies of ancient Egyptian heiroglyph writings and scrolls, etc, for decyphering because we have actually manage to teach ourselves both the written language and possibly how their minds worked and how they thought rathet than just following the 'trends' as set by others.

@hankster See,you, imo, are still not trying to actually think outside of the box completely. It seems that you, like so many others, are still trying to rationalise the decorating of caves, etc, with some kind of belief system imo. Humans have always been inventive, aesthetic, creative, etc, etc, so why would cave paintings, etc, need to a either a Spiritual ( which technically speaking has a semi-religious context) or even religious meaning? Do we NOT just decorate our homes stiil with works of art, etc, etc? I, for one, have an still do, I have painted murals on a few walls and a fence in and around my home but none of them have a 'spiritual/religious' context though to some they may, falsely, indicate it to be so, as in the ones I've pictured below. I do them simply because, 1) I'm an amateur type of Artist, 2) they add a toch of colour, etc, to my home and property and, 3) they are often a bit of a talking point with visitors as well. Yes, the Egyptian style ones depict their Ancient gyptian Creation myths but I did those because I like their art styles and the clouurs they used, etc. So, why wouldn't our earliest ancestor simply decorated their caves, etc, simply because some of them found out that they have the ability/talents needed to do so. Perhaps, also, the animals and hunting scenes were for the education of future generations as to what to hunt, how to hunt, etc, etc, instead of using language, which would have been somewhat basic at those times probably. Do we still not teach our very young child by such things as actions and pictures, when we teach a child to first eat using a spoon, for example, we actually demonstrate to that child how hold the spoon, how to use the spoon to transfer the food to the mouth not by merely using words to explain the method/s because we KNOW the child would, most likely, not be able to comprehend what we are saying. After all there are 2 very wise old sayings, 1) "Actions speak louder than words," and, 2) " A picture is worth a thousand words." So why bother telling when one can show or depict instead?

Triphid replies on Jul 2, 2020:
@hankster,@skado Try, firstly to think OUTSIDE the box, i.e. dismiss the the usual connotations that have always put upon the cave paintings, etc, by Archaeologists/Anthropologists that there MUST be a religious element in everything humans do or have done. Ask yourself which would have come first, civilisation as a means to both secure the survival of the clan/tribe OR a system of belief that says that there is a Supreme Entity/Entities controling literally everything and humans have no choice whatsoever? Now consider that most animals have absolutely NO concept/need/desire for such Supreme Entities, their main driving force is to eat, mate, breed the next generation and survive, i.e. their own unwritten Lore so to speak, the same drive that we humans have innately inherited inside of us. Does the Prey merely stand around meekly awaiting the Predator to attack, kill and eat it because it IS the WILL of this Supreme Entity? No, it runs for its life, dodges, weaves and use what ever artifices it can muster up to escape, live and breed. Even the most 'feral' ( anything that has gone from being domesticated to returning to its wild and uncontrolled state of being btw) of animals will place their own lives at risk to defend and save their young from dangers as do at least 90% of both Predator and Prey species on the planet, they do this because it is the natural, inherent, innate thing to do. Ergo, when the earliest of the Homo species firsr came down out the trees, which were a kind of 'sanctuary to them btw, the adults would have banded together, just as most other simian primates, etc, do even today, to protect each other and their young, hence they would have formed a clan type structure sans any belief system holding to some kind of Supreme Entity and from there the clans would, more than likely have developed over time into groups or simple tribes with a kind of social order though still sans religious beliefs. As simple example of this scenario is the Simians, they have a social order, a hierachy but NO visible.tsngible religion or religious belief system just do, for yet another example, the Pachyderms ( Elephants) who have a Matriarch system, so WHY would humans have been any different in the very beginning of human evolution? After all, we are 'taught' that civilisation ONLY began when humans 'created' large towns and cities BUT is not being truly civilised a system where the members of the clan/tribe/community will band together to support, defend and do their best to ensure the survival of the clan/tribe/community, etc, etc. I tend to think that @skado in his arguments/comments, like ever so many others, is 'stuck' in the ways, ideas, ideologies that have been' drilled' into us for so long that we cannot 'see the woods for the trees.' @hankster The equation of Religion = Civilisation and Civilisation = Religion does not compute simply because one can have civilisation WITHOUT the influences of religion. And NO, I don't TRUST fully that those I vote for will either be responsible, etc, in their decisions since it IS those we have voted for who have, time and time again, gotten US into wars and battles that were NOT for OUR benefit as a whole but, imo, ONLY for the benefit of the few or themselves. But I DO hold out the hope that, perhaps, one day there will emerge someone. somewhere, sometime, a Leader of Humankind that will see, take note of and understand that such conflicts of ANY of that kind are needless, wasteful and unwarrented.

Triphid replies on Jul 1, 2020:
@skado No, you still, imo, confusing Lore with a kind of sytem of religious belief. Noral and Ethical Lore most likely evolved with humans far, far before anything that could even loosely be called a religious belief or religion. Even the majority of we, mistaken humans call the 'baser animals,' have a system, of sorts, of Lores that they abide by, e.g. birds will not and often do not breed with their own siblings under normal circumstances, simply because they know by instinct that such interbreeding with and so have harmful results to the next generation/s. When we human Archaeologists/Amthropologists STOP loking for religious connotations in enerything we find like in cave-paintings, petroglyphs, etc, etc, left behind by our earliest of ancestors and instead start thinking as they did/may have we may well realise just wrong our judgement of them has been all along. Humans have always been inventive, creative, etc, etc and why should they NOT have merely decided to DECORATE their caves, etc, with scenes and animals, etc, that they were familiar with and NOT as depictions of some religious belief, etc, etc?

@azzow2 Not 'knocking' your Yucca trees, etc, mate, but Red Gum, Mulga and even our native She-oaks are almost as tough as nails. My uncle, Dave, was a timber-cutter way back after he was de-mobbed from WWII, he used to cut Redgum, Mulga, She-oak and Mallee using the old-fashioned Cross-Cut saws and they would always end up needing to be re-sharpened at least 3 times during each trip to cut wood for sale as firewood. I tried, once and once only, to cut some Mallee using an axe, all that I managed was to get a dose of sore hands, aching shoulders and arms, a very blunt axe and a few tiny nicks in the wood. Out here we often come across the 'bane' of all Wood-cutters, the Australian Ironbark tree, even the very best of chainsaws baulk at this wood. The last time I made the mistake of TRYING to cut some Ironbark it ,literally, shattered 2 chains without even scratching the wood.

I can strip down 2 -stroke motorbike engines almost with my eyes closed but never have tried fixing a chainsaw other than sharpening the chains and resetting the lengths of the chains when they get over-stretched ( got my own chain sharpener and chain resetting gear btw). At a rough guess I'd say my Stihl is somewhere around 6-8 years old now and has had a pretty hard life since I always use it to cut Aussie Eucalyptus Red Gum wood for the fire, it is a very hard wood btw. This is the pastor of the Evangeloon? What ever happened with that, by the way? If you posted an update, I must have missed it. Did he ever catch on to the mysterious voice of Gawd that you generously provided? Did he ever go into the wilderness as directed? I don't suppose your yard has a ...

Nope no sprinkler system, just drip irrigation sadly. Evangelidiot is still trying, and emphasise the trying, to build his wooden hand-cart to carry his supplies, he is planning to be at Uluru ( Ayers Rock) on December, 25th, this year to 'receive' the new Commandments from God and to cewlebrate the birth of Jesus while he is there. But I did make a healthy 'profit' via a daring and somewhat devious son of a friend a few weeks ago. i'm not sure I showed you this but I found a copper nail a while back in my garden, after a wee chat and a deal to split the profits evenly with the son of my friend decided to try and sell the nail to Evangelidiot by claiming it was sent to him by his distant uncle who lives in Israel and who told him that it came from a 'dig site' where they found the Carpenters Workshop of Joseph, husband of the Virgin Mary. Evangelidiot fell for it hook, line and sinker, paid a nice little sum of $300.00A for it and now proudly shows it off to all his fellow Evangelidiots. So, Geoffery and I are now $150 richer each.
LOL, it just CANNOT get any better imo.

NYC Mayor Says He Will Shut Down Sales Of Illegal Fireworks : NPR
Fred_Snerd comments on Jun 29, 2020:
My classmates and I were pyromaniacs. The stories I could tell. The mortar fireworks were great fun when held like a bazooka.
Triphid replies on Jun 29, 2020:
@Fred_Snerd When I was a teen, we used to collect all the 'empty' spray cans, we built a tube like mortar out of a piece of steel pipe and placed one end in the camp-fire and the other point in whatever direction we wanted, then dropped a spray can down the tube and waited. Those spray cans do really fly off like rockets and the burst in the air after a shortish distance, often with huge bang as well.
LOL, it just CANNOT get any better imo.

What, give them food and drink, shit they'd end thinking I was Jesus handing bread and fishes....LOL. Hey, if they're hungry or thirsty then let them pray for it, I'll lay bets that I can get myself a coffee, have a 10 course meal, a shower, a good night's sleep and even walk to the moon and back BEFORE their prayers are answered.
LOL, it just CANNOT get any better imo.

Oh you can bank on me having the phone handy and the number for the Police on speed dial, ready and waiting for me to press the button. In actual fact, I rang the Local Police Station straight after the phone call, I'd recorded the whole call btw AND told 'Pope Paul' I was doing it as well, go on to a friend there who is the Sergeant and he told me to have the phone ready to go and they'd send a Patrol Car with 2 Officers in it PLUS a Transport vehicle to arrest and detain them all.
