HippieChick58 replies on Sep 23, 2018:
Lets tackle the fat shaming first, and I realize English is likely not your first language. Fat is more than just a noun, it is a judgement as well. You seem to have some of that going on, in your profile you wrote "5 feets 7inches, 170 pounds (I am still working on that sorry for the few extra pounds." Are you ashamed of those few extra pounds, and it seems you include others in your condemnation of those extra pounds. The way I see it being overweight is not a moral failing. Food is tied so tightly to survival and pleasure, it is very emotionally charged. The last thing someone struggling with body image and weight is to have shame added to it. I think moral indignation should be saved for rapists and other criminals, not for someone carrying extra pounds. You also wrote in your profile "As any artist I might be a little shallow, a little selfish." Yeah, I kinda see that. Then lets talk about the reasons so many people are overweight. I'm going to stick with the US because that is what I know. Sugar is added to hundreds of foods that should not be sweet. Ketchup, the condiment loved by millions is primarily sugar. Breakfast cereals are loaded with sugar. Sugar is a cheap filler for processing, and the sugar lobby is tight with the government. Fresh vegetables are sadly expensive and grocery stores destroy tons every year because they are not "attractive".The ubiquitous fast food, easier to grab McD's and call it a day rather than cook at home. The issues of diet and weight loss have been around for hundreds of years, and obviously we don't have a handle on it. One of the first dietitian was an English doctor who wrote an essay on dieting in 1724. That is 294 years ago. Almost 300 years of dieting. What we are doing is not working and there are no easy answers. Why do you assume you have the answers for everyone? Judgmental toxic people do not make it easier for those who are struggling. Please rethink your strategy.

In 1993 he went to Korea unaccompanied, the kids and I moved to Belleville, IL The master bedroom was tiny, we had a king size bed. The left side of the bed had to be up against the wall and I started sleeping on the right side, and realized I slept better that way. When the ex got back home I let him know that the change was permanent. I am very right handed, as he is. However I noticed that he slept on approx 1/3 of the left side of the bed, and I slept on 1/3 of the right side, and the middle was no man's land. Before the switch it seemed we always slept towards the middle and usually breathing in each other's faces. After the switch it was all fresh air.

I am good at talking to strangers. People find me easy to talk to, and frequently overshare. I think I have a broad base of general knowledge and find chit chat easy. After doing that for a while I need to slip back into my solitude and recharge.

I was in Okinawa when they changed from driving as the Americans do, to driving as they do on mainland Japan on the left. I was 19 when I got to Okinawa. I was amused and amazed at the advertising for adult entertainment; banana shows and snake shows. The Japanese are much more open and relaxed than Americans of puritanical descent. The Japanese have different ideas of physical boundaries. In the US we don't willingly pack in tightly. In Japan there were no limitations.

@NoMagicCookie There are a few employers that offer them to employees that work less than 40. It may take some looking, but I will endeavor to find them. The overtime was nice, but not worth what you're giving up.

@NoMagicCookie I do remember seeing something about that. If I do look for another job, I will look for something lower stress and not more than 30 hours a week. All I really want is health benefits. If the US had universal health care I likely wouldn't even consider looking for another job. I do have some "retirement" income that will start next month. Right now I don't know how much it is going to be. That will determine how long my first retirement is going to last.

@azzow2 There is so much diversity in Africa it would be hard to take it all in at one time. If I were to go to Africa I'm not sure which part I'd choose, but I'd probably stay away from the very northern parts. I remember reading about Lake Victoria, but it's been a while ago. In the trivia files in my memory I do recall that Jumbo was a greeting, but yes, that would be take some getting used to :)
