@Trajan61 I disagree. You haven't seen a major exodus yet so far because of Der Donald. Most people just want a job, a home, and to raise their families in peace. Der Donald wants you to believe it is rapists and other criminals coming in. It isn't. It is families who want to protect their children. They want to work and they are not afraid of hard work. I am not afraid of people who's skin is darker than mine (well, that's about everybody) nor of people who speak a different language. I know how hard it is to move to a strange place. Those trying to come to the US are motivated, dedicated, and very brave. Yes, I am a compassionate liberal, but I am also clear eyed. The US has always been a refuge for the downtrodden. "Give me your tired, your poor", has been our guidance. That is what made us the greatest nation. We cannot be that again until we return to that mission.

@Trajan61 The Iron Curtain was not a physical wall. It was a heavily guarded and patrolled border. The actual wall was about 96 miles. Borders are man made constructs, we are all citizens of the earth. The people looking for asylum are fleeing conflict in their homelands, they are fleeing for their lives. The conflicts in their homelands is a result of the US meddling under GB1 and GB2.

@Trajan61 The actual wall was not that long from what I am finding on Wikipedia. Also the Iron Curtain and the Berlin Wall were definitely not humanitarian in nature. He did come off as naive which is out of context for his stated age. However, if he is Autims/Aspergers then that would make sense. This is humor? (Can't read the article without turning off my ad blocker, so can't read the article).
HippieChick58 replies on Jan 11, 2019:
Sadly it is not satire. President Donald Trump's daughter, Ivanka Trump, who works as a White House adviser, is one of the names being considered as a replacement for The World Bank's outgoing president, Jim Yong Kim, the Financial Times reported Friday. The DC-based World Bank, founded after World War II to finance economic-development projects in emerging economies, has traditionally been led by an American. Kim's sudden departure from the bank came as a surprise to employees and leaves the bank's future uncertain. The Trump administration, which has been wary of and even hostile toward Western-led international institutions like the World Bank, will now be tasked with submitting a recommendation to the bank's board. Other possible American nominees to lead the bank include undersecretary of the Treasury for International Affairs David Malpass, US Agency for International Development director Mark Green, and former UN ambassador Nikki Haley, the Financial Times said. Unlike some of the other proposed candidates, Ivanka does not have a background in international trade economics, but she has been a businesswoman. Before joining the White House, she worked as a vice president for acquisitions at the Trump Organization. She also directed her own fashion line, the Ivanka Trump brand, which was shuttered last summer. President Trump also floated Ivanka as replacement for Haley's position, but ended up nominating State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert after concerns of nepotism were raised. "So nice, everyone wants Ivanka Trump to be the new United Nations Ambassador. She would be incredible, but I can already hear the chants of Nepotism! We have great people that want the job," Trump tweeted at the time. A spokeswoman for the Treasury Department told the Financial Times that the department been sent "a significant number of recommendations for good candidates" and was "beginning the internal review process" to choose a candidate to put forth to The World Bank's board.
