I've bought and read several of his books. He was the eternal optimist. I learned, early, that jealousy is an immature, insecure feeling. It has no value in adult relationships. If you have others flirting with your S.O. - you watch how (s)he handles it. If they take it well but don't show they're "enamored" then it's a sign you're still the most significant. If (s)he responds to the flirt with strong responses - if (s)he appears "enamored"....then you have work to do...on yourself, first...to return to S.O. status. If you see your S.O. status fading - then you have to go to the root of why it's fading. You have to ask yourself - Is it you or him/her? To be "jealous" is just showing him/her you're upset. Some immature folk appreciate a "jealous" partner. I see that as a game-player...and have little/no respect for that. (search Eric Berne; "Games People Play" or "Transactional Analysis") Change that "upset" feeling - that "jealousy" - in to action on yourself. Either work on improving yourself and getting closer...returning to S.O. status....or work on letting him/her go. Ken Keyes; "Hold on tightly - let go lightly".

Friendships have all sorts of levels and intensities. I do think I have several folk on Agnostic.com who I can call "friendly"...but to define them as a "friend" is a bit of a stretch to me. What you'll discover - as I did - is that although it's designed to facilitate dating and meeting....it doesn't work well that way.
