Likewise, Public Opinion Strategies, a leading Republican polling firm, recently forecast that the 2020 contest could produce a massive turnout that is also unprecedentedly diverse. Both are democratic/leftist leaning journals. I'm afraid it's wishful thinking...I sure hope they're right....but after the 2016 debacle I doubt it.

Damned! I had to look this one up! Too funny! Here's my theory: After repeatedly failing to capture Bugs Bunny, Wile E. Coyote has his sights set on the Roadrunner, but since his brain failed him so many times before, he has lost confidence in his intelligence and is blind to the fact that the ACME products will never work now matter how many times they blow up in his face. Quite literally. Wile is so determined to catch the Roadrunner that he has taken a vow if silence until he meets his goal, which is why he usually holds up sighs and why most people think he can't speak. And because he refuses to eat anything else, Wile has lost his strength and is unable to catch the Roadrunner on his own. I try to "sweat' every day. I read that's important for us seniors. I swim every 3-4th day. (30 - 40 laps, short pool). I bike 4-8 mies every 3- 4 days I hit a tennis-ball-machine every 3-4 days. I also have a variety of workout equipment in my home...hate the 'gym scene". I have a set of clubs...and a par 3-4 9 hole walk-about course is within my community; but I've played only once. Waiting for my son to take an interest.

I took my son and his new wife to New Orleans a few years ago, and we found a natural museum there; and there was an exhibit called "The future of food".... I bet you can guess the main ingredients? Yep...insects. They talked about and displayed various "meals" and "flours" that were insects ground up so well that they didn't matter what they looked like. The promise is... -they grow fast -they eat weeds -they're high protein -their meal, or flour, will some day be an ingredient for "meat-like" substitutes... -the growing world population (158 more births, than deaths, per minute) need food. and of course; there were samples of the creatures themselves; both living and toasted....whole, with different seasonings. I'm not sure if allowing or encouraging "sampling" of whole critters (usually large worms, or caterpillars, or grasshoppers) was a good thing...but many a brave soul did sample them...I wish I had a pic of the look on my son's face!

What I've learned is that despite the beauty of building on a hill, or non-level surface is that the land below the homes...even solid rock....shift and slide. Europe and Italy in particular is learning this....as "static" as any hilly land appears...it's moving. Pipes, foundations, all cracked beyond repair. I'm impressed with their external beauty; they are a monument to the home-builder... ...but you can bet they're unoccupied for just the reasons I've mentioned.

Florida; land of Ho-hum (hot and humid) weather. No-see-ums, (I had to install speciaI, finer mesh, more expensive screens) 'skeeters" and the mate-while-flying love bugs (actually not bugs, but flies; see image) that cover your car with a hard to remove stain...yea...it's a mixed advantage to living here, for sure! Yea, the 'skeeters' can be mean...if they get you, the itch lasts for days. I hate wearing repellent...but the stuff is getting safer every day. But...having said that....I love, love, love the weather! I also am more "acclimatized" to warm weather than most. I'm brown eyed and tan easily....I think they call it having "Mediterranean" blood...but I'm so happy when all the snowbirds (blue-eyed/lighter skinned) folk who "can't stand the summers in Florida" go home! More pool time for me!

It's an interesting perspective. I have to respect those tapering off on red meat, as I have; most med science finds we eat too much of it. Butchering is still a skill, and can be an expensive proposition. While touring a mid-western cattle ranch last year, I asked the owner "what's holding back farmers from raising Buffalo" the answer wasn't the cost of the feed - it was the cost of the butchering harness. Cattle can have their heads locked In rather inexpensively. Buffalo, due to their almost missing neck and huge shoulders, need a very expensive harness. Laws are now being considered and passed, allowing field slaughter. They're trying to personalize this. That's wrong. And it's a fact; taste is an acquired thing. I do admire folk who've lowered or removed their taste for meat from their diet. I've tried...I can't.

I raised my son to be a very picky eater...and now in his late 30's he's still lean and athletic...yet they've adopted a "helicopter" or "bulldozer" parent approach...and I feel sorry for my little Grandson. Nice. I do remember a child who was a neighbor...and the first "bully" I encountered. I remember his name, as well; Jackie Winston. I remember suffering being "hit" for no clear reason when he was around. I'm not sure I like the spiritial/#religulous intonations of "meant to be". Some are raised with good communications skills - these have better chances at relationship success...period. There's always the exception - I don't buy that "meant to be" thing. Some are raised by not such good "communicators....some raised with less "love" than others....so does this mean they're "fated" to be the same? Some of us come out of sad/corrupt/spiteful/hostile parental relationships and fight to never let that happen in their lives... And what does that mean; "fight like a married couple"? I know some who never fight. Some who verbally fight. Some who physically "fight"...was that "meant to be"? Sorry...hard to buy the "meant to be" thing. Call me agnostic....I need proof...

Driving drunk... "sure I can drive - in my opinion, I'm clever and smarter when I'm drunk" . Driving stoned... "damned...do I have to? Maybe if I go real slow....." ...of course a stoned driver is safer.

This was a "world cup" match. I'm talking as a former soccer coach. No...you don't "ease up" if you're ahead. You put in 2nd and 3rd string to test your depth. This was "the best of the best of each nation".... Shame on Thailand...a former well known soccer-obsessed nation For putting up such a defenseless team; or for playing "defeatist" Soccer. The U.S. players in then were 2nd and 3rd string...so, no...you don't "let up" and play soft in a championship match. This was a chance for players who are rarely put in to "show their stuff"....so of course the 2nd and 3rd string women played hard. This is a tribute to our depth of field. This is a harbinger of Women's soccer; watch out, World. We're tough...and deep. Here's a clip of the Thailand women's soccer team warming up.
