How many of you remember this memorable Russell Harty / Grace Jones encounter? [youtu.be]
LenHazell53 comments on Feb 16, 2019:
I was fond of Russel Harty, a good alternative to parkies over serious style and Wogan's frivolous tone. Likable guy. Grace Jone was always going to be troubling. Statuesque and impressive, talented and professional most of the time, anyone who openly admitted that her idea of foreplay with her then lover Dolph Lundgren was for the two of them to beat the living shit out of one another had to say the least a messed up sense of appropriate behaviour.
I unpinned the boobies post since I got a satisfactory number of replies.

It takes a life time of growing up to realise that we had the right answers to life as a toddler, enough to eat, a warm place to sleep, the love of those around us and sense of wonder at how beautiful it all is. This quote highlights a problem many have in that they think that what you are made to do defines who you are, rather than realise what you choose to do defines who you will ultimately be.

LenHazell53 comments on Feb 13, 2019:
Well since many ancient cultures including the Canaanites from whence sprang Abraham believed that god masturbated the universe in to existence, they even deified his right hand under the name **Iusas** Now consider this, in most ancient Semitic tongues the letter **i** is pronounced **J** and the vowels are not included in written language but inferred from context, leaving us *J_s_s* the ancient name for the right hand of God that wanked the universe in to reality.

Do you find most people too selfish - or much more rarely too giving?
LenHazell53 comments on Feb 12, 2019:
Selfishness is a basic instinct in the human psyche, however that self interest sometimes manifests itself as altruism since cooperation and reciprocation can often lead to a better state of being for the human concerned. This is the original basis for human society, one human is likely to be eaten by the saber tooth tiger, twenty humans together can kill and eat said large pussy cat, with enough for each and left overs for the winter. Unfortunately and very quickly, certain humans realised this too can be exploited with many humans working together for the benefit of one special human, usually called a some variation on king or priest.

Jesus, historical figure behind the legend or straight legend?
LenHazell53 comments on Feb 11, 2019:
Almost everything attributed to the biblical Jesus is plagiarism or a composite of other Jesus' contemporary to him. There may have been been a Carpenter of Nazareth but not at the time stated in the bible since the town was not built until 35 CE and was in a valley not on a cliff as stated in the Testaments. There is far more evidence for the Existence of John the Baptist, but not as a herald of Christ Jesus, but as the prophet of the Anointed God known in Greek as Jesus, probably the same ethereal god spoken of in the epistles of paul.

What is the purpose of life?
LenHazell53 comments on Feb 11, 2019:
This very much depends on how you are defining purpose. If you are asking is life a part of some overall divine plan in a chain of cause and effect then perhaps you are better off talking to a theologian. If you mean does life have a integral place in the workings of the universe, in that reality only exist once measured or observed then perhaps the writings and theories of Werner Heisenberg and Erwin Schrödinger may give you some answers. However if you are speaking on a purely philosophical and anthropological level then in my opinion the purpose of life is to effect change either negative or positive, to leave the human world different, for your presence having been. I choose to interpret this as it being my duty to contribute to the overall level of positivity in reality, by creating, receiving and passing on joy and love, others will do it differently, but the true evil is to promote neither negativity or positivity but to enable stagnation.

Is there actually such a thing as Protestant Mormonism and Chirstian Atheism?
LenHazell53 comments on Feb 10, 2019:
The word Christian though co-opted by the followers of Jesus actually means nothing of the sort, since it means followers of the anointed one, and the Jesus of the New Testament was neither the first nor the last Christ. For example Johanist to this day call themselves Christian but revile Jesus as an imposter and usurper, believing the actual Christ is god himself and that John the Baptist was his ordained prophet on earth.

LenHazell53 comments on Feb 10, 2019:
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, both book and the film to a lesser extent are a satire on western society of turn of the century USA and the assumption of government on how to control them. The Munchins, literaly the little people living in fear hoping for a saviour to drop out of the sky and save them The Lion the tamed natural enviroment held in fear The Tinman Heartless industry (in the books Jack Chopper, literally replaces himself bit by bit with metal until nothing human remains) The Scarecrow brainless farmers and agriculturalism The Emerald city the promise of an after life (in the book it can only be seen by wearing green tinted glasses when Dorthy sneeks a look without them it is just a series of white washed buildings. And as you say a little man hiding behind a big mask controling all and promising paradise but delivering only tokens and promises.

LenHazell53 comments on Feb 8, 2019:
To an extent I actually do agree with you, since the only purpose I can see in life is to be happy and to make others happy so living life how you see fit is the key. For some this is to leave the world changed for the better for others it is just to leave the world no worse. Your time is your opportunity for joy however you perceive it. Death is the comfort of knowing life is not permanent and will end eventually, giving way to oblivion. I you want to be remembered, make sure you are, if you want to be forgotten you can arrange that too. All the best to you.

LenHazell53 comments on Feb 8, 2019:
Like some people who become school care takers or youth leaders to have easy access to kids, so do some priests. The position, prestige and protection were the motivation and aim, religion and "morality" were an optional occupational necessity.

Are you a conspiracy theorist?
LenHazell53 comments on Feb 8, 2019:
No, for one thing, " conspiracy theorist " tend to advance ideas that postulate a lack of control by the individual or manipulation of great swathes of people and see themselves as victims of a conspiracy, where as in your contention creationist see themselves as a part of an open conspiracy to bring the world in to order and to persecute "the profane" others. Secondly as is well known now the term " conspiracy theorist " was a deliberate invention of the CIA as revealed in CIA Document 1035-960: weaponized terms and language, released in the 1990s under the thirty year freedom of information act. It was introduced during the Warren commision investigation in to the Kennedy assassination to bury truth in masses of easily disproved misinformation that could all be written off snidely by the catch all term of "an invention of mentally unstable conspiracy theorists " However now that so many actual "conspiracy theories " have proven to be true, notably Watergate, the term has somewhat lost its bite.

Yes if you defend the right for people to believe as they please without prejudice then that must necessarily include people who choose rationalism, humanism and even atheism. There is however a difference between freedom of religion and freedom to be religious if that practice comes in to conflict with the law. We would not for example allow satanist to practice human sacrifice even if they claimed the religious right to do so. Secular law must take precedence.
